Palo Alto Bicycles
they gave me a great price on a TREK bike , great customer service and spent the nessary time and effort to make sure I was comfotable with the bike before I bought it. the only thing I would complain about was trying to park in downtown Palo Alto , but then again that is why I bought a bike.
Fry's Electronics
let me start by saying they have great prices , but the absolutely worst customer service I have ever experienced. They actually will NOT allow anyone to leave the building until they eyeball search you...and thats the easy way, if you actually buy anything , they will check and double check your accounts and even called my bank to get them on the phone , even though I had made 5 or 6 previous large purchases from Frys before. all in all what ever you save in money they will take from you in dignity before you leave...an employee actually confided that they search the employees before they leave too. so regardless of price I will not go back again, and I will be a happier person for it.
Golds Gym
Not a good gym , this place is too crowded to ever be a good gym , for that you need alittle bit of space to actually workout. I got a free pass to try it out for a few days and the facility looks nice , the equipment is new, and the price is real cheap , but the sales man did seem right from a used car lot. but they have done alot to fix the place up, since the previous gym was here , was it redwood city fitness club? trouble is with the price so cheap they have so many people ,and I couldn't find a parking spot, I couldn't get into the spinning class, and then I had to wait to get on a treadmill. seems like they are making alot of money , but if they really want to serve the members and give something in return ,maybe they should raise the price , and thereby get rid of some of the people...anyway it was like being at Disneyland and not getting on a ride. I'd rather actually get to ride.
Escape From New York Pizza
nice little place...great pizza and very entertaining ambiance!! Inside the place they have a huge gorilla climbing a version of the empire state building , that works up a column...really cool, so while I was enjoying the pizza my kids were busy with the creative architecture...really neat , right next door to the new movie theatre downtown.
Powerhouse Gym
The secret is out now !!! I have seen lots of gyms and fitness centers , and this one has got to be in the top 1 or 2 I have ever been to. First of all it is HUGE , with lots of sunlight and windows all around , high ceiling's and a real open air quality. The equipment is new and they have so much stuff , I can't think of anything they don't have. There is even a private quiet training and stretching area. and they give you a bunch of free training sessions to get you started.I don't do much aerobics but there are lots of classes and from what I hear they are great , but I did take a Yoga class , and have never been so relaxed, I think the teacher was Nicole and she was the greatest.The staff is very friendly and they don't have a bunch of commisioned saleswhores running around bothering you . The rest of the place is well run ,seems like a very hands on approach . and the atmosphere is really nice here. and only $32 a month , and I got a month free to go with my membership. Nice to be at such a nice place.
