Powerhouse Gym
Gym of the year award goes to Powerhouse Gym...I have been to all the local places and this is by far the best. They offer free towels, free aerobics, free personal training...In the back of my mind I thought maybe this was just a place for buff guys , but the truth is, it seems to be about 45% women and most people are over 35 years old....seems they have even less hard core guys that the 24 hour fitness...and there is a private training space for the really bashful...they also have new equipment, big flat screen TV's ,price was agreeable , and it is clean and attractive....I feel safe here , and the atmosphere is just so friendly without the pushy sales staff at some of the other places I went to ...Great Gym and a good find! oh , and the pilates class kicked my butt!

I have been coming here for years and it is always the same , friendly , and GREAT sandwiches...it is run by a family and you feel like you are special...it is always a treat to go to and I have been coming back going on 10 or 15 years.
mid peninsula animal hospital
They are really smart , professional, and really care for my pets. My cat was sick , and getting very old. I initially took her to another vet ,they had prescribed medication but it seemed my cat was getting worse and they didn't change it. She looked to be on her last legs.. Then I went to Dr. Lowrey at Mid Peninsula and she took one look at my cats charts , and took her off the meds, saying it was fixing one problem but creating another that she wouldn't be able to recover from....end of story is my cat lived a happy comfortable life for over a year , Dr. Lowrey is really smart and experienced , she sees what the others miss. and because the patients don't talk , THAT is important.
Golds Gym
YIPES ! dirty , crowded , and the members are not what you would want in your home. Being the cheapest gym in town , they do attract the wrong crowd. They have made some improvements that are eye catching , but with so many people it really doesn't matter , because you have to wait forever to get on a bike or eliptical. also the renovations they are doing have been ongoing now for over a year, and it looks like at least another year to get it done. I recommend paying a few more bucks at anyother fitness center in town , and actually be able to work out, even 24 hr is better. and really there is nothing here now or in the future that other places don't have.except the crowd of sweaty bodies.
