I like stopping at Lyon's Package store and browse their extensive wine selection. They have a good assortment of California and Austrailian whites and reds. They also have a good selection of imported beers.
Charlie Pratt has been drilling wells in the Southwick area for quite some time. I called him to drill a well for me and he sent his crew out in a timely manner. Although they weren't able to hit water they drilled at least 7 holes all over my property
Fentons has been around for as long as I can remember serving the Western Mass area. It carries quality equipment and specializes in customer service. For years they have been supplying Sschools with uniform and equipment.
The Ledges is one of the nicest golf courses in New England. They have been listed on more than one ocassion in the top 100 public courses. The fairways and greens are always in great shape and the lay out is very challenging. They have a target practice range and a friendly staff.
This links style course reminds me of the courses in Ireland and Scotland with the diverse terrain, rolling hills, landing areas, and hazards. The course was in meticulous shape and the pricees very reasonable.
Cape Neddick is a semi-private course that from my observations doesn't have a lot of playing members. Probably the reason they open up tee times to the public. The greens fees are expensive and the course is ok. There are several other public courses I'd play first before going back to Cape Neddick.
Els is a roadside take out stand located right off the highway and therefore is what I consider a "tourist place" ie..small portions, high prices, and only so so quality food.
This is a links style course that was built on both side of the road and meanders through the woods on the front side and over the mountainous terrain on the back. The course is always in nice shape with quick greens and plenty of hazards. Bring a dozen or so golf balls with you!!
Ruby's is a casual dining establishment with a menu very similar to Chili's,or TGIF. They have the basic burgers and fried foods along with a selection of Tex Mex items. We always get the Nachos Grande which is a meal in itself.
I took my wife to Clay Hill Farm for her thirtieth birthday last summer while on vacation in York. You need to make reservations ahead of time as the seating is limited. They have a very upscal cosmopolitan menu and a great wine list. The special that night was Beef Wellington which was excellent. I highly recomment this place for special ocassions.
