Mia Bella Trattoria

Houston, TX Italian Restaurants 01/05/08: 'Great Downtown Restaurant!'

Mia Bella is a cute little restaurant located downtown -- great for before theatre or sporting events. I've tried many of the menu items and all are delicious. My favorite is the Quattro Formaggio (4 Cheese Pizz), which includes blue cheese...yummy!

Field Of Greens

Houston, TX Restaurants 01/05/08: 'cool vegetarian place!'

I have heard a lot about this place as a "healthy alternative" lunch spot. I couldn't even decide what I wanted to eat because everything on the menu looked so scrumptious. I settled on a tabouli and avocado sandwich. It was so so awesome, and it came with fries that were sprinkled with some sort of spice. I have never had fries that good. My mom enjoyed her portabello sandwich. They even had tofu fries!

We sat down and our food was out very quickly and piping hot. My grilled cheese was on some type of mutligrain bread that was rock hard (I think too many oats isn't conducive to grilling it) and they used shredded cheese that wasn't melted all the way through. My fries, however, rocked. They were amazing. And delicious. And mouth watering. Course, the ketchup was some type of organic stuff that didn't help too much, but since the fries were so good, it didn't matter.

The wi-fi here is free, but very spotty. The prices were reasonable.

Beavers Ice House

Houston, TX Bars & Clubs 01/05/08: 'Monica Pope Strikes Again!'

We've been to Beavers, twice now. The food has been excellent both times. The first time we went, we ordered the sampler plate, including ribs, brisket, sausage, and pulled pork. All very good. They have an extensive beer menu as well. The appetizer called Bar Bar was very good.

Even though they have just opened, the service was very good and everyone seems to know what they are doing (not always the case with new restaurants). We'll definitely go back again.

Dantons Gulf Coast Seafood Kitchen

We went to Danton's a couple of weeks ago and had a pleasant experience. The raw oysters were great and both of our soups were fantastic. The stuffed shrimp wasn't overly impressive. The owner came by and introduced himself to us and thanked us for coming.

The food menu is somewhat limited. The bar seems like a good place to hang out as well.

Urban Bicycle Gallery

Houston, TX Bike Shops 12/23/07: 'Great Bike Shop!'

After many years of not being on a bike, I stopped in this bike shop and bought a great bike at a great price! I was not sure if I would really like riding and they helped me pick out a hybrid that fit my purposes perfectly. They did not try to sell me things that I didn't need, but made sure I had the equipment that I did need. They also provide great services after the sale for all bikes they sell.
