Mr. Burger has an excellent ham and cheese sandwich. I like to have a cherry Coke and tator tots with mine. This is a popular burger joint as evident by the lunch time crowd. I have eaten here many times and it is a very good place. Also, for breakfast, you can't beat their breakfast burrito!
Taco Tico is my very favorite fast food tex-mex restaurant. Their enchilada dinner is excellent! You get a beef enchilada, a taco, rice, beans, and chips with a side of sour cream. The beans from Taco Tico are the only beans worth eating to me. I have eaten somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,000 bean burritos from this place back in high school!
Big Fattys makes a really good burger. It is made with a half pound of ground brisket on a ciabatta bun topped with pickeled okra. It is an unusual burger, but a good one. The smoked chicken nachoes are also very good. If you get any of the BBQ that has been "spanked" with their rub, look out! It is VERY HOT and spicey.
Johnnies has some great burgers. The best part is the charcoal taste and the super great Johnnies sauce. The sauce makes the burger and you should ask for extra with your burger. I can't get enough of it! For a side, I love their hand-dipped onion rings. The fries are also good. The only drawback is the heartburn I usually come away with from over- eating! It hard to stop when you get going at Johnnies!
This is the "classic" greasy spoon diner. I have eaten many hambugers here throughout my 33 years of life. My grandparents had a farm not to far from Mangum when I was just a kid and we frequented the Hamburger Inn. The burgers are great and greasy! They fry onions to put on them and they have homemade hot sauce tableside to spice up you burger. I always liked to get the onion rings for my side, but the fries are equally greasy and good! The last time I was there, they still had stools along the counter where you could sit and watch the fry cook pick up a ball of hamburger and slam it onto the hot griddle! I would sit there as a kid with my bottle of pop in hand and salivate until my burger was before me! Ah, the memories!
Kens ribs are really good. They are by far the best ribs I have ever had. I have never eaten inside the restaurant because my in-laws live so close and they hate to wait to get in. The restaurant itself is attached to a convience store and is only opened in the evenings on weekends. But the looks can be decieving. People drive for miles around to eat Ken's ribs. Ken has even been featured on David Letterman a few years back! People fly in on helicopters just to eat there!
I really don't know how the stay opened with their affordable prices. The portions are just right and the food is outstanding. I had the meatloaf and it had a "homemade" taste. The one problem I had is the smoking section in the restaurant. I prefer a place that is totally no smoking.
The food at Teds is awesome. I wish I could eat there at least once a week, but I live in the DFW area and it is about 3 hours away. My favorite dish is the shredded beef enchiladas. The best part though, is the all you eat fresh handmade flour tortillas, queso, salsa, and chips. The major drawback is the wait to get in. If you go at a "prime" time (on some days ANY time), you will wait at least an hour to get seated. I have waited upwards of three hours! But, once you get the food, you realize that the wait was worth it!
This is southern fried chicken at its best! The food is always piping hot and fresh. I have eaten here at least 20 times and I have never had bad food. I have eaten the fried chicken, chicken fried steak, chicken strips, and pot roast. I have never been dissapointed with any of my choices. They also offer smoked chicken and fried catfish which I am sure are excellent, as well. The food is served "family style" with all you can eat cream corn, green beans, salad, and biscuits. The only con is the noise in the place. It is usally crowded and the music is always cranked up, but it really does add to the charm of the place! Sometimes they have live music with the servers walking around singing. They have also been known to grab a customer to do the hokey pokey in the middle of the restaurant!
