Snow Creek Ski Area

Ever think that ski resorts are just for skiers? Try snow tubing at Snow Creek. It runs $22 for two hours of fun. The snow tubing area is a short walk from the ski area and has a fire pit to keep you warm between trips down the hill. Be certain to dress warmly and cover your face. Otherwise you will end up with icicles dangling from your chin. The resort is very basic - rentals on one side and food on the other - but isn't that all you need?

This restaurant has something for everyone at great prices. Whether you are looking for a dining experience or just are on a budget and searching for a great gyro, Felini is just right. The staff is helpful and treats everyone who walks through the door with the same courtesy whether they are ordering the most expensive item on the menu or splitting a falafel.

Stonewood Tavern & Grill

Upscale decor and food, but we had the sandwiches...'

We visited during happy hour. Some drinks are BOGO and beer is $1.00 off. Our hamburger was huge, messy, and delicious. The tilapia sandwich had been removed from the menu, but our server graciously allowed a substitution - it cost more, but it was worth it.

Swamp House Grill

Go to this restaurant on the banks of the St. Johns River for the view. Order very little. The food is mediocre at best and the prices are high for what you receive.

Zonarosa

If you enjoy the new trend of stores that are not under one roof, you will love Zona Rosa. This shopping area has all the usual stores from Disney to Gap to Marshalls. It also has great restaurants and many businesses (optometrists, dentists, Omaha Steaks, comedy club). The only thing it does not have is a food court. The few chains that were in the food court closed, and replacements have not been found.

Sheridans Frozen Custard

I thought this was just another ice cream stand and always passed by. Why did I finally stop? Sheridan's is a supporter of the Kansas City Royals, and they have several promotions that win you a free sundae. (The free sundaes are not just three bites either.) One free sundae made me a custard fan.

Central Dairy & Ice Cream Co

Central Dairy Address: 610 Madison St, Jefferson City, MO 65101 Phone: (573) 635-6148 We visited the above location and are not sure how it is connected to Hathman Pl. During our visit to Columbia, we hit all the spots noted on the "must see" list. Most of them were a disappointment. We were just saving the best for last. This is like an old fashioned ice cream store with old fashioned prices. The only note of caution: they put marshmallow cream on their banana splits.

Amc Theatres

Having a large number of screens might sound like a good thing.. However, if you are disabled, walking to the back forty to watch a movie is not a plus. In addition, watching a movie at this theater is more expensive than most. We used to go to the matinee to save money. Now, the matinee is at 10AM.

Mama Fu's Asian House

I suppose this restaurant could be considered a fast food place since you do go to the counter to order and then carry your food to the table. However, once you taste your meal, you will no longer consider it "fast food". You can order beer here, too, which is not an option at other fast food locales. The dining area is also a step above booths and play areas. Friday and Saturday evenings may have an influx of tweens and teens, but that is fine. It is nice that they have somewhere nice/safe to go.

Amstar Stadium Cinema 12

We travel to watch films at this location because it is clean, pleasant, and in a nice area. Our only complaint is that not all movies come to this theater. To complete your date, try one of the restaurants in walking distance of the theater before or after the movies.
