Northland Computer
We've referred several people here who live up north and needed someone onsite right away. Everyone we've sent has been happy wtih their work and found their prices to be reasonable. If you're a residential customer with a computer need, they are a good choice.
Computers To Go
When we have a client who needs a part for an older system, we typically use Computer To Go. They have a large selection of older stuff and some new stuff as well.
Worldwide Specimen Shells
This is more of a museum than anything else. A museum with the biggest, strangest shells we have ever seen. Their hours aren't very long so make sure you call before you head this way. Fun for the kids although many items are off-limits to touching.
Kayak Experience
This was our first time renting a kayak and, while fun, the scenery in this area isn't the best. You're in about 40' of clear water but the angle you're at in the kayak doesn't really allow you to see much past the bottom. I wish they had the kayaks with the clear lexan bottoms so you can see what's under the water.
Eat Me Tackle
They have just about every bait and tackle you could imagine. I'm not big into fishing but I was impressed with this place. We would stop in every year to buy a box of cigar minows to feed the dolphins. Feeding dolphins is now illegal so I don't think we'll be back. If you're into fishing... don't miss this place.
Islanders Surf & Sport
This location is much larger and in a very upscale, crowded area compared to their location in Fort Walton. We recommend, if you're heading toward Fort Walton, visit their original location instead of this one. But, if you're not heading that way, this place has it all but is a little pricey.
Islander's Surf & Sport
We found this little place while taking a scenic drive up 98. You can almost see the ocean out the front and the bay out the back from this shop. They are a family owned business with great prices and they truly make you feel like they're glad you're there.
Marco-Destin Inc
Right by the beach with a HUGE selection of items you need for the beach. This is also a great place to shop for sourvenirs to take home to those not lucky enough to be with you.
Sockeyes Beach & Sport
Right by Henderson State Park, this place has a little bit of everything with respect to water sports. We tried the wind-surfing and it was a blast. There are beautiful beaches to see along the park's edge where there are no buildings or anything to interupt the scenery.
Crab Island Water Sports
They have really nice waverunners but the area where you can ride them is very limited. I'm not sure if it's differences in insurance or what that regulates how far from base you can ride but check the range before commiting to a rental. If you're a first-timer and want to stay close to base, they have really nice units here.
