Just right across the street from the famous La Valencia Hotel is this charming intimate Hotel. I chose to stay here the week before my wedding and it was a pleasure staying here.
Location: Right on the corner of Prospect St. and Herschel Ave. this small hotel is just a block away from the la jolla beach. And several great restaurants are just a short walk away!
Checking In: Now, if you drove to this hotel, which in my case we did, you would need to park in the underground parking garage. Downtown La Jolla can get busy so parking can be a challenge. So having the option to park in their small underground parking garage is definitely convenient. Keep in mind that the parking is an additional fee per day. I think its $20/day. Worth it though.
After you park you would need to take the elevator up to the hotel's main lobby which is the 2nd floor. This was a little confusing for me at first since I'm so used to seeing a hotel lobby on the first floor. From the street level you go in through the main entry and have to walk up a flight of stairs where arrive in to a nice little lobby area. The decor is quite nice, it has a contemporary but elegant feel to it. Once arriving in to this lobby you may find yourself looking around, wondering where you actually check in. But then you'll realize that either a nice lady or gentleman sitting at a desk is the hotel's "front" desk. As you may start to get the picture this hotel is truly intimate in size. I believe there are only about 30 rooms or so. Though this hotel may be lacking in quantity its definitely not lacking in quality.
Hotel Accommodations: The Rooms at Hotel Parisi is rather refreshing. I like the crisp, clean, simple elegance it provides. The room I stayed in felt very bright and welcoming. A small complimentary basket of fruit is even provided within the rooms each day. I definitely enjoyed being able to have a healthy snack and most appreciated the complimentary bottles of water. I haven't seen too many hotels encourage health-wellness with complimentary fruits and bottles of water for guests. Little touches like these made my stay all the better.
Furthermore about the rooms, I found the room to be very clean. The beds were comfortable with egyptian cotton linens and the goose down. The room I stayed in was very spacious. And I'm pretty particular about hotel bathrooms and their bathrooms were nice. I loved their shampoo and conditioner. I believe they sell bottles of it too!
Hotel Service: I give this hotel an A+ for hotel service. I think with the small size of the hotel the hotel employees can really cater to guest needs. They did everything they can to help make my stay pleasant. I appreciated that they installed in one of the walls of the room I stayed in a hook for me to hang my wedding gown on. I had an extremely long train and had no where in the room to hang it up so that it wouldn't get wrinkled.
Dining area: This hotel has a small dining area. I'm not sure if they serve food. However they have complimentary breakfast each morning which was nice. I don't think they have room service, I might be wrong. However, there are many restaurants practically next door to this hotel.
Extended Stay: One other thing great about this hotel is that the have another building close by that is like apartments for extended stay guests. If you plan on staying for at least a week the Parisi apart may be the way to go, especially if you visiting with your family. I've seen a few of these apartments and they are beautiful. They have different sizes but I believe a kitchen is in all of them.
The Hotel Parisi is a great hotel to stay at if you wish to stay within the La Jolla area. For the same price as a room in La Valencia you are, in my opinion, getting more living space. Its definitely a charming hotel.
If you are looking for some good food and a tastefully designed atmosphere you will not be disappointed with RAMA.
Situated in the heart of downtown San Diego it makes it a convenient stop before a late night out on the town. Its only minutes away from clubs/bars and a couple blocks away from the Petco Park.
One entree is more than enough to satisfy your hunger. I went out with a group of girl friends and we ordered several different dishes to share. We had their Drunken "spicy" noodles, Panang Curry, and Pad prik. All of which were very tasty, but my favorite was the drunken spicy noodles.
The price was reasonable. Its approximately $15-25/person (incl. tax and tip, but excludes drinks and alcohol). Price varies depending on if you order one of the more specialty items.
Other than the food and the price you will be amazed by the decor of this place. There is a great ambiance there, perfect for a nice romantic evening with your significant other or an elegant spot for your group.
