Jamco Beauty Supplies

Jamco has been my family's beauty supply store for quite some time. It used do be located in the Gaston Mall but as since relocated to Franklin Avenue, but they still have the same variety and product supply as before. Anything from shampoos to relaxers to combs and brushes to makeup...Jamco is a one-stop shop for your beauty supply needs.

Chicken Box

The Chicken Box is another soul food restaurant that offers a variety of southern favorites. You will find baked or fried chicken, turkey and dressing, meatloaf....even down to neckbones and chitterlings (yuck...lol). While I don't eat those, the chicken and the side dishes are very good. And I have also attended a function that was catered by them and the food was great and plentiful.

Jackson's Cafeteria

Gastonia, NC Food - Gastonia, NC Restaurants 02/20/08: 'Homecooking'

Jackson's Cafeteria is a full-service cafeteria-style restaurant, complete with a serving line. Most of the people who work there remind you of your grandmother or aunts, and are very sweet, and definitely know how to cook! They have fresh vegetables, side dishes, and a variety of meats. There is something for everyone's diet.

The downside is that the portions aren't that big, but you still get enough to be satisfied. This used to be one of my favorites growing up.

Tommys Drive In

Dallas, NC Hamburgers 02/20/08: 'Great hometown flavor'

Tommy's BBQ has been open since I was a kid, and they have some of the best sandwiches! The hamburgers are fresh and cooked to order and made anyway you like them. They also sell chuckwagons, which you can't get too many places. Many people like their bbq, which is also good. The only con is that it's pretty far out, but it is always crowded and the food is very good.

Market Street Buffet & Bakery

Gastonia, NC Restaurants 02/20/08: 'Huge buffet'

Market Street is very similar to a Golden Corral, but with perhaps more selections on the buffet. There are homemade desserts, meat sections, vegetables, and freshly baked breads. They also have a full salad bar, and although I don't like to frequent buffets too often, the food is very flavorful. They offer fried, baked and broiled items so that anyone's diet can be accommodated for.The only con is that it is ALWAYS crowded. But the food is good, and you can eat for under $10.

Bellacino's Pizza & Grinders

Gastonia, NC Pizza Restaurants 02/20/08: 'GREAT hot subs'

I always order a turkey grinder from this restaurant and I am always pleased. The sandwiches are pretty large and can be made hot or cold, according to your preference. I've tried a few other items from the menu, but the grinders are the best. They also have homemade pizza that are pretty good too.

Bellacinos is a great place to get a nice sub or pizza for dinner or lunch. They have eat-in and carryout.

Players Sporting Goods Inc

Players can almost be missed if you're not carefully looking. This store is not flashy but carries all of your sporting goods needs. I've stopped in for everything from whistles to head bands. They offer uniforms for all sports, equipment, and the prices aren't bad. Some things tend to get pricey, but you can sometimes bargain with them. Very easy to get in and out of because there is never a crowd.

Mimosa Grill

Located in the Wachovia Atrium, the Mimosa Grill is a quaint restaurant that offers a diverse menu and some pretty decent food. The salmon and the roasted chicken are two that I would recommend. On warmer days, you can enjoy lunch or dinner dining outside on the patio. Great atmosphere when they have Live at 5 on the patio as well. They also have wonderful desserts.

Village Tavern

The Village Tavern is located in the back of an office park, but the restaurant is nice and cozy and has a great atmosphere for a first date or an after work mingle with coworkers. During warmer months, they offer patio dining and after work drink specials while grooving to live music. They have the best crab cakes in Charlotte!

The Capital Grille

I love the decor and atmosphere at the Capital Grille. Here you will find some of the best steaks in Charlotte. However much they try to dissuade you, they will cook your steak to your liking, even if you want a filet medium well. :-) Entrees are pricey and served a la carte but you get great quality for the price. You MUST try the lobster mac and cheese!
