The food at Hugos is great, but I deffinitly reccoment it as a lunch option if you're on any type of budget. The same menu seems to double in price when the dinner hour begins.
Mongolian is a fun place to take people for the first time. Everyone mixes up there own creation then gives it to the grillers to cook right in front of you, they are usually very entertaining. I love going with people who have never been before because it is an experience.
Jimmy's is great year round, but deffinitly the place to be in the summer. With the large patio, good food and fun atmosphere its the place to be especially if you can get a table.
Domo is a great place for special occasion dinners especially and a fun place to take people for the first time. All of the food is cooked right in front of you by your chef and they are usually very entertaining. I love going with people who have never been before. I also reccomend ordering Saki bombs!
Fabulous food found in a hole in the wall type establishment. Grinders might not look anything fancy but the food is to die for! I especially reccoment the Italian Beef sandwich with marinara and cheese. It literally melts in you mouth and their bread is AMAZING!
It might not be "High Class" but it sure is a good time! Especailly if you make Kareoke night. The crowd if usually quite friendly and its an easy walk back to SAU if you're a student.
Penguins has always provided us with some good laughs. The acts are mostly nationally touring shows and some are better than others but they do a good job bringing people in. I'd deffinitly reccomend it and if you don't enjoy your first show try at least once more, its not their fault if the comedian is bad....well not entirely.
Mac's is a great place to go and chill out, especially if you're lucky enough to get a table. They play great music and people often end up dancing along in the back of the bar. It usually draws a diverse and entertaining crowd.
Carriage Haus is a lot of fun. Its a popular hangout for St. Ambrose Students and the dance floors is packed on Friday nights especially. Though I've never played there is also a pool table and shuffle board in the back.
I have only visited La James as a customer, but they must be doing something right. Compared to the other local beauty school they seem to be training a higher level of clinicians. You don't feel like you're in a beauty school it feels like a normal spa from the moment you walk in the door.
