Morehouse School of Medicine
Morehouse School of Medicine provides services to a variety of patients with a variety of resources. As the focus is to teach students to care for patients, at times patients need to be patient with the system (just as with Emory School of Medicine). However, I have noticed that the personal touch is part of the plan here and that makes it worthwhile.

Emory Healthcare
This is the heartbeat of the Emory Healthcare System. Here doctors (as well as medical students from Emory University) may specialize in state-of-the art care and they may also rotate to work at Grady Hospital, or another affiliated hospital (Crawford Long, for instance). All the affiliations make this a huge system, with excellent opportunities for research and development to improve patient care.

Emory Healthcare
This is the center of the Emory Healthcare System. As it is a teaching hospital, patients benefit from the latest research and developments in treatment, including bone marrow transplants for cancer treatment, for instance. It is a huge facility, but the nurses know how to keep the personal touch, as well.

Wesley Woods Health Ctr
The staff at this health center know the population that they are working with is largely the elderly. They know how to take the time to explain things. And while they are business-like, they are very thorough. Their affiliation with Emory helps, of course, to draw the best-trained doctors and therapists you could get.

Piedmont Hospital
Can't beat the level of care of the doctors and nurses at this hospital. The range of their services is remarkable, as you can have a baby there or fight for your life in surgery, ICU and later recovery. The fact that Piedmont Hospital is right next door to the Shepherd Spinal Ctr really helps expand the level of services for eah facility, as well.

Detch Janet - Caduceus Occupational Medicine
This place processes a large number of patients daily. They can scheduled and complete physicals without much ado and provide feedback to employers (that's how we use them) that is timely and reliable.

Grady Healthcare System
This facility, as you may have heard, treats the underprivileged who are not insured. You would not want to go here for any other reason, unless you were a trauma patient (from a car accident or fire). In that case, this is the best place to go. Hopefully, the new management will actually improve other services, as well, in the near future!

The affiliation with Emory and Crawford Long has helped improve the level of healthcare in Atlanta to those who don't have a number of options. I have visited friends here and noticed how much improved the buildings are, too, which actually helps one's spirit move toward recovery.

You can't go wrong here--as the affiliation with Emory lends itself to more knowledgable and connected staff and more up-to-date equipment, resources & practices.

This national association has educated the American public on how to prevent diabetes and how to control it once you have it. They have empowered people to understand how they can make a difference in their own lives. In understanding this, behaviors change and lives improve.
