Kashkaval
Kashkaval offers wonderful cheese and chocolate fondue in a small rustic setting. The front is a shop with great cheeses, some sandwiches and some delicious delicacies. The back is the restaurant with a small but enticing menu. And sharing fondue with friends and family is fun.
Chenilee Cleaners
Chenille Cleaners is in a new space, but it has the same top-quality service. The tailor is excellent, and the place is completely reliable. They do an excellent job on unusual items, too.
The Flame Restaurant
The Flame is an anchor in the neighborhood. In fact, when Hillary Clinton was on Ellen DeGeneres's NY show in the fall of 2007, they stopped in for coffee at The Flame. We've been going there for years, and the people are incredibly nice. It's also a bargain for out-of-towners, who can find something they'll like on the big menu at a reasonable price.
Olympic Flame Diner
The people at the Olympic Flame are incredibly nice. Many have been there since it opened fifteen or so years ago. The menu is huge, and the place is really comfortable. Tourist should really take advantage of the large size and reasonable prices. Plus it's one of the few reasonably-priced restaurants where you can seat a group of 5 or more together -- there are large round tables as well as booths.
Baluchi's
The food here is really good and the waitstaff is really nice, but the best part is the atmosphere. The Indian decor is authentic, with a lot of beautiful pieces. There's a slight formality to the place, yet not in an oppresive sense.
