I almost feel lucky to live close to this Penguins, because a lot of people I know travel far to go here. There are many frozen yogurts shops in the South Bay, but this Penguins is absolutely the best and worth the drive. Most of the frozen yogurt is carbolite, which means fat free and sugar free and about 8 calories an ounce, so you can really indulge. They have the most and best tasting flavors, like snickers, apple pie and grasshopper. They also have a lot of tasty toppers for your frozen yogurt or ice cream. It is usually busy, so be prepared to wait a few minutes, but very much worth the wait.
W's China Bistro is very similar to PF Changs in the atmosphere and the food. The ambiance is very upscale trendy. the food is delicious and plentiful. You will never go home hungry if you eat en entire entree. I think their Kung Pao Chicken and Mongolian Beef are wonderful. They have a small parking lot in the back, but the provide valet parking. The service is very friendly.
My only problem with Italys Little Kitchen is the parking. If you want to dine there on a Friday or Saturday night, good luck. You have to deal with all the HB Pier parking nightmares. The food is is very well prepared, and excellently presented. Try the Chicken Parmesan with one of their great wines and you will have a great night. The service is a little slow, but very helpful and friendly.
Corbins has a great selection of new style bikes, especially Schwinns. I bought my wife a beautiful pink Schwinn with all the bells and whistles for a wedding gift and she absolutely loved it. I also take my Schwinn to Corbins for fast and reasonable repairs and maintenance.
Mandarin garden not only has the best Chinese food on the hill, but probably in Southern California. You can eat like a king on a pauper's budget. they have all the favorites like Kung Pao Chicken, Sweet & Sour Pork and moo Shu Shrimp. they also have Peking Duck for a bit more but worth every penny! They have a really cool live lobster tank.
The food here is exquisite! The only place I know of in Big Bear that serves Paninis. The French Dip Panini is not to be missed. Couple that with the fantastic Caprese salad, and your set. the prices are excellent for the quality. The servers are so nice and friendly. Make sure to try the mimi Italian donuts for desert.
Dongio's isn't anything special. It's average Italian food like mozzarella sticks, spaghetti, calzones, chicken parmigiana, raviolis, etc. the prices are average, but maybe a little high for the quality. The service is a little slow.
This nice, rustic steak house has great food and friendly service. It is always crowded here, so take a seat at the bar and enjoy a drink and appetizer while you wait. They have stupendous Texas style chili and mouth watering steaks. The portions are very generous and the prices are moderate.
The Portofino is a premier hotel right on the Ocean. They recently renovated and they did a wonderful job. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable and beautiful. Even the lobby is magnificent. The staff are very friendly. It is a bit pricey here, but well worth it when you wake up to a sunny day and watch the sunrise right over the the Ocean from your bed.
I stayed here on my Honeymoon night as well as all my out of Town guests. We all just loved this beautiful hotel. The room are very nice, and the location is excellent (right near the ocean)The extras were a nice touch, such as the care package with an eye mask, ear plug and pillow spray. The staff went out of their way to accommodate all of our requests.
