Auto Tec Repair
Auto Tec Repair shares a street address with a handful of other auto shops, so you have to drive to the very back once you pull into the LONG driveway. As you face the shops, they are the last one on the left.
The staff at this shop are honest, hard working, so kind, and very fair about prices. They will not rip you off, and if you have an oil change, and they see something that needs maintenance or repairs, they will make suggestions, but never pressure you--even a woman who drives there alone!
They are Christian, and just plain good people with fair prices!

Health Care Partners Medical, Dr. Valentine
My husband and I went to the doctor's office, because as a newly wed, I worried about his moles, and I didn't know how to tell if his were cancerous or not. This doctor literally checked my hubby from head to toe--even between his toes (since men do wear sandals in the summer). He carefully checked my husband's scalp (etc.) to be sure there were no cancerous moles. And then the doctor explained different moles to me--I now know there many kinds of harmless moles, even raised ones.This doctor is not afraid to TEACH patients, so they can better understand their own bodies and be informed patients. He did not play God and keep all the information to himself! And he offered sound advice about sun-care protection for the future.

Advanced Laser Clinics
You'll never sit long in the waiting room, and this clinic is reasonable in their prices. They do the usual, laser hair removal, injections (for facials), micro-dermabrasion, etc. The staff is trained, and even if you do something "scary" like an injectable (which really are not scary, although you read about unreliable clinics where the stuff they inject is not real, and people get very sick and their faces are damaged), you don't have to worry. They use only pure, FDA approved ingredients, and they are gentle and will never hurt you.
This is a safe and clean place, run by professionals, who are also friendly and polite.

Stater Brothers
Don't believe Albertsons when they say they are the low-price leader. Look at the fine print, and you'll see they only say that when comparing grocery store chains. Stater Brothers is not a chain, and if you DID compare them, they would win. This is not just my opinion, but I also checked this out. EVERY Single item I found in Stater Brothers was cheaper than Albertsons. And if the smaller Stater Brothers on Newport Blvd. doesn't have what you need, then just come over to this one (just a few miles away), with an even bigger selection. Plus they are near the local community college, and really handy for college students. And this store is a bit fancier inside than the other one (both are good).

Stater Brothers
OK, this won't have the glamor of a Ralphs or Vons, but wow will you save money on EVERYTHING! There is no cheaper grocery store in Southern California, and Albertson's can only claim it is the cheapest, because they are a chain, and Stater Brothers is not. Furthermore, if you buy a Stater Brother's store brand product, you'll save even more. The staff at this location really work hard (so please be nice to them when you shop there), and they work hard to help you find what you need. The butcher is prompt, friendly, and they offer great meat too.

Mother's Market & Kitchen
Mother's has plenty of good deals on food and supplements. Many of their bulk bin items (psillium, oats, for example) are far cheaper than the grocery store. And their restaurant has awesome food with huge servings and good service. They even have live music on weekends.
The staff is so helpful too, and if you have any question, they are so patient. The even sell natural cosmetics--plus so many other great items!

Gomez Maria - Village Family Dental Office
Village Family Dental is the best dental clinic I've visited in California. When you have an appointment, they will usually call you, right when the time comes for your appt. (i.e. they'll call you right at 2pm for a 2pm appt.). Sometimes (if you are early, and they are running early) they will even call you sooner.
As soon as you are seated, the hygienist begins to work on your teeth. They are gentle but effective. My teeth are clean, and I have not had any trouble since I began to go there 2 years ago (when I moved to LA County). They also explain what they plan to do (take an x-ray, or just clean), and there are no surprises. If you have reasonable dental insurance, the co-pay is moderate, and they are so polite. You'll have clean teeth, a small copay and be on your way home in a short time!

Woods Ace Hardware
The Woods, Ace Hardware has most of the things you'll need, and it makes for a quick stop when you run out of something you need right away, but you don't want to drive all the way over to the Home Depot. The items are a bit more expensive, but they do offer a "frequent shopper" rewards program (they offer it to you when you buy things at the cash register).
They are such sweet people there, and unlike the Home Depot, you rarely have to wait for a sales person to come and help you.
Bikecology
Unless you try E-Bay, you might not find better prices on your bike parts, and if you need them NOW, come to this shop. They have harder to find parts. They have a repair section in the back, and they take good care of their customers.
They have a fun little "discounted items" bin in the front, and my husband found 4 items he needed, at great prices.
This is also a family friendly store, with children's bikes, and you can bring your child and not feel like he or she is getting in the way.

Smog Pros Sepulveda Arco
I think this Arco has the cheapest gas in Torrance--and the Daily Breeze's "Gas Guy" actually has listed the prices that way many times. It is easy to enter and leave this station, with two streets on each side (each with a traffic light), so if it's just a little out of your way, come to this location, and save a few pennies.
They also have fair prices on smog checks, and they are quick and polite (I had my car done here).
