Jackson's Home & Garden
Great selection of "stuff" for the yard and patio including grills and patio furniture. Flowers and plants are healthy but a bit on the pricey side. Plenty of yard art - statues and fountains to choose from as well. And if you need anything customized, talk to the knowledgable staff. Right by Love Field.
Ed's Lawn Equipment
There aren't very many of these left ... an independent lawn equipment retailer who sells just about any type of lawn equipment you could want. They also carry a good supply of parts and inventory. Their mower, edger or weed wacker service is a must! Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Plus where else are you going to go when you are in the market for a small tractor??
Truluck's
Nice dining room with excellent service. A must if you are a seafood or crab lover. The power lunch special is a little pricey ($20) but it comes with desert whether you want it or not! Pet peave here is the small parking lot, but you are forced to use their valet or just go park in the back parking lot and walk 50 steps to the front door ... it's ridiculous.
Neuhaus Cafe
Bistro style cafe with good food and an overwhelming aroma of fresh chocolate. I dare you to walk in and not order something in chocolate. They have some unusual items that make for great gifts. Good lunch spot also.
Keg Steakhouse & Bar
Who would think a place that serves food this good would be in a strip center in Las Colinas? The salmon dishes are very good and the service is excellent. OK, this seems dumb, but they have the best booths in town. Make sure you try the specials of the day as they know what they are doing.
Brookhaven Country Club
This place does not offer the glitz and glamour of some of the old money clubs in Dallas, but also avoids the Prima Donna feel of the Plano, Frisco and Lewisville clubs. Good family club and also a great place for golf (3 courses) and a world class tennis facility. The price is extremely reasonable and the club is finally embarking on a renovation project that should take it out of the 1980's look and feel. Food in the restaurants is good, but pricey ... but the biggest drawback is the lack of view from any of the dining rooms.
Gloria's Restaurant
This place is a nice change of pace from the usual mexican food spots. It has recently been re-worked on the inside and offers up a nice look and feel while delivering pretty good food. The burrito is huge and tasty and the salsa is certainly above average. There is also a giant bar area for evening dancing, music and socializing.
Marshall's Bar-B-Q
Unlike so many barbeque spots, Marshall's offers up solid bbq and sides at a reasonable price. Nothing fancy at all about the dining area ... the food is served cafeteria style. Desert is extra, but the meal servings are sufficient so that you probably won't want anything else.
Cafe Max Midway
Blue collar lunch spot that also brings in the local office workers. Difficult to find which is a good thing. Otherwise it would be even more difficult to find a seat at lunch. Best thing is the 3 salad special ... you pick 3 of the offered salads of the day. Usually you are choosing between at least 6 different types. So pretend you are eating well and walk out stuffed with fruit, caesar and chicken salad ... in huge servings! No need to tip so that keeps the cost very affordable.
Kel's Restaurant
one of the few remaining true greasy spoons in north Dallas. think of it as a truck stop without the big rig fuel. food is exactly what you would expect ... actually breakfast is very good. expect salty service and a very reasonable price tag.
