Szechuan Gourmet was a pleasant surprise for a group of friends and I. It is fairly new to Long Beach Island and I went to give it a try. We got sushi, soup, and dinner and everything was very good. Also, we sat and talked for a while and did not feel rushed at all. We were all so stuffed we ended up taking home our leftovers. A good spot for Chinese food on Long Beach Island.
The Holiday Inn in Manahawkin is fairly new and was surprisingly a nice addition to our town. It is clean and has an element of class to it. It features an indoor pool and a small work out room with nice new equipment. Also, connected to the hotel is The Stafford Grill. It is owned by the same person that owns the Stafford Diner. The selection at the Stafford Grill is huge. It offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner and the deserts are awesome. Overall a nice place.
I stumbled upon Cleopatra's Needle because I needed to listen to a live jazz performance for a class. The restaurant is an intimate little restaurant that was mainly candle lit, with a bar, and a small stage with live jazz. I got a pasta dish and it was delicious. Our waiter was very friendly and I really enjoyed myself. If you want to hear jazz in a relaxing atmosphere, this is the place. The only down fall was that it was expensive.
This pizza place is a must when visiting Seaside Park or Heights. It is so good I drive a half hour to get it. My parents have been going there for 35 years and now I am going there. The people that work there are extremely friendly It is a family run business.
West Creek Liquors and General Store is located right along Route 9 which makes it a quick and easy stop. When I went there I had to get a lot of ice and the person that was working there helped me put it in the car. I would say this place is definately 90% liquor store and 10% general store.
Buy Rite Warehouse Liquors is just as the name sounds. It is a giant liquor store that offers pretty much anything you can think of as far as spirits go. This place always has great prices and if you are headed over to Long Beach Island for vacation you should stop here for great deals!
Dom's Drive In is an interesting place on Long Beach Island. It is a big building that has a dining room and outside seating but it is very very very casual. I have sat inside and got chicken fingers and pizza and the dining areahas a fast food restaurant feel. Also, they have ice cream which I got once and it was pretty good. It is not one of my favorite places on the island and I don't go there a lot but there was nothing bad about it, but nothing great either.
I went to Lyceum II Health Club on a guest pass and I was very satisfied. It is a brand new health club and was very clean. The equipment was new and a lot of the cardio machines have their own TV screen. There is day care offered and the people who work in the day care are very nice. The only downfall to this health club is that it is very expensive.
If you want some hot delicious bagels on Long Beach Island Bageleddis is the place. When they first open in the morning they are swarmed by tourists and locals who want some of their hot fresh options. All of their bagels are great!
I am a huge fan of Sub Busters! Their sandwiches are always really fresh and I love stopping there for breakfast. I am big fan of their pork roll, egg, and cheese on a roll with a hash brown right on it. I definately would reccommend anything from here!
