Beverly Hills Health & Fitness
This is a pretty basic local gym, bit of a hole in the wall. I went there for about two years when I worked a block away. If you live in the neighborhood, it's a perfectly decent place to get your sweat on. If not, don't bother.
Tangier
Cool decor, overpriced food, not a bad place to catch a bite and some local music. Overall, not worth a special trip, but perfectly adequate for a night out.
Drawing Room
This wee join on Hillhurst is a hipster dive in the best and worst sense. Good for a drink. Beware--some people there take their dart games very seriously. I almost had to throw down last year.
Cobras And Matadors
But! I've never gone there and not had something intensely entertaining happen at a nearby table. From excessively shiny girls taking pictures of each other to an awkward (and failed) marriage proposal--this place has got it all. The food? Fine, but should be about 20% cheaper. The wine selection is good, but overpriced. And sometimes the corners smell of ant spray. But, again: the people watching. Good.
Ozzie Dots Vintage Clothing
Great, good selection, a little pricey. And let me say this in no uncertain terms: under NO circumstances should you go within 25 feet of this place on (or near) Halloween. It's a madhouse. Other than that, go crazy!
Holly Hills Cleaners & Laundry
If you live or work nearby and need some dry-cleaning done, this place is perfectly adequate. Granted, I only need dry cleaning once or twice a year, but these folks seem just fine. Prices are a little high, but, then, it IS in the Hollywood.
Sun Cleaner
Live in the neighborhood and need clothes cleaned? Go here. Why not. They do a fine job. As a bonus, they do alterations, reasonably priced, and more than reasonably accurate.
Groundwork Coffee Company
Not much more to say about this place. There are tons of wee coffee shops in the area, this one is not a particular stand out. Sometimes they have good open mic / story telling nights.
Hotel Cafe
Tucked away in a back alley in the midst of Hollywood, this place features up 'n coming acoustic / folk rock artists. It's a fantastic venue, cool staff, decent food, and generally a mellow crowd.
Citizen Smith
As tends to be the case, it's crowded and ovepriced. But the food ain't half bad and, if you like looking at pretty people they're usually there in force on the weekends.
