El Capitan Canyon
This place is awesome! I went away for a writer's getaway and rented a safari tent. The queen size bed is beautiful, with table, chairs and heat! Luxury camping. Only criticism is that the cabins feel crowded together.
El Compadre
I thought the food was pretty good-- mostly just satisfactory. But it "hit the spot" with a late nite craving. But with the musicians, the back patio, the dark setting and the great margaritas, I would always consider this place again.
Marix Tex Mex Catering
A great place to hang with a bunch of rowdy friends. Better for the "drinking" environment (the kick-a** margaritas are awesome), but the food is very satisfactory too. Don't expect a quiet evening around you if you're dining here.
The Abbey
This place has come a long way from 10 years ago. Started as a quaint coffee shop, and now it's expanded to a huge island bar with a spacious dance floor inside, and a great patio with cabanas outside.
A.o.c.
Great place! Food is phenomenal, but pricey. But here, you get what you pay for. Any time I'm trying to impress a business associate, this is the first place I think of. A guaranteed great experience.
Barney's Beanery
When you come to BB, you're mostly coming to just hang in James Dean's rumored hangout. It's kind of trashy and divey, and it's always crowded after 5pm, but if you go with the attitude of being low-key and casual, you can have a really good time. The gigantic menu is purely "guilty pleasures". You may regret it the next day, though.
Eat on Sunset
Cool location on Sunset- across from the old CBS building. A relatively new restaurant with a limited but very tasty menu. Everyone who works here seems almost excessively beautiful, which can be entertaining and weird at the same time. The perfect place for a "power" lunch with your agent.
The Boulevard Lounge
Great location right on the corner of C.H. and S.M. Parking's a little rough, but hey- you're in West Hollywood. The outdoor patio has a great late-nite ambiance with the busy intersection within hands-reach. Very urban feel, yet the vibe is so comfortable that it hardly seems an intrusion. The private owners are usually on hand to welcome patrons, making the place all the more endearing.
Basix Cafe
On a summer night in West Hollywood, there's nothing better than dining out under a street-side canopy in a cool cafe that serves great food. And the tasteful bar doesn't hurt things either...
French Quarter Restaurant
Both the indoor cafe and the outdoor patio are great spots to perch for casual conversation and a light meal. I often notice other patrons contented to dine by themselves, with a newspaper. A great casual spot easily accessible in a great part of West Hollywood.
