Sunny Food Mart
The location is great. The selection is very good. The prices are what you would expect in a convenience store. Their gas price is as good or better than most local stations. The biggest fault I can find is the pervasive smell of cigarette smoke throughout the whole store. That is a put-off to me.
Overall Lumber & Hardware
This is a relatively new business in Somerville. That fact, notwithstanding, Overall Lumber and Hardware has one heck of an inventory. Their stock is attractively displayed, and reasonably priced, somewhat surprisingly, considering the location. One doesn't often expect such attractive prices when weighed against the convenience of a local store.
Cactus Restaurant
Open only on weekends, this is a place to go to get filled up! Their fried catfish is legendary, and their hush puppies and coleslaw are perfect accompaniment.
Brazos Belle Restaurant
I know it sounds weird, but that is exactly what you find at the Brazos Bell Restaurant. Their hours are somewhat limited, being open only on the weekends, but it's worth the effort to drive to Burton to experience this unique dining place. Prices moderate to high. Service almost overwhelming.
Neinast Restaurants
Ninast restaurant has been doing business in the same location for over fifty years. Their specialty is their "Mini" Chicken Fried Steak. If this is a "Mini" I would hate to try to eat a big one! They serve iced tea in HUGE glasses and keep them full as long as you sit there. They also have a daily buffet featuring Several main dishes and an assortment of sides. I can't get past the "Mini" CFS so I don't know how good the buffet is. It looks good though
Las Fuentes Mexican Restaurant
The biggest thing I can find wrong here is the print on the menu is too small, but What A Menu! It would take an hour to read the whole thing. Fortunately, you don't have to read the whole menu. You can order anything you see and you will love it. My particular favorite is their Fajitas Poblanos. Chicken or Beef Fajitas, marinated to perfection grilled, and served on a screaming hot cast iron platter with poblano peppers, onions and tomatoes all grilled to their delicious best. Yumbo!
Dana Cox Plumbing Co Inc
Dana Cox Plumbing has pulled my fat out of the fire more than once. I live twelve miles out of town, and it isn't just anyone who will come out on the weekend when the "jon" stops working. To make it worse, it was cold and rainy. Dana came and made the commode go good as new. Didn't charge an arm and a leg either.
