Downrigger's Waterfront Rstrnt
Downriggers is considered one of the nicer restaurants in P.A. It draws a lot of tourists as it is on the water, right by the ferry docks.
They have really good steamed clams and clam chowder. Their desserts are terrific. The bar adjacent to the dining room is a good place to get a meal, and some drinks in a slightly more informal setting.
P Js Oyster Bed
I wish I could review this restaurant and tell you all about the delicious meal I had, but after waiting 30 minutes to order after receiving bread and water, we left. The restaurant was not even crowded and we could not even get someone's attention. It was like we were suddenly invisible. Really weird.
Toga's Northwest & Intl
Togas is a great place to go to celebrate a special occasion because the food is exquisite. It's among the top two or three restaurants on the Olympic Peninsula in my opinion. The dining room is initimate, a house converted to restaurant. Great wine selection to accompany your meal. Seafood choices are terrific, as well as the rack of lamb. Menu varies with season but also offers some traditional German dishes.
Frugals
The Port Angeles version of In'n'Out Burger. Their burgers are really tasty and fries are done just right, wash it all down with a soda, what more do you need? This is a drive-thru only so their prices are low. You can get your meal and park just a few blocks away at the overlook by the Red Lion and watch the boats coming in to the harbor.
First Street Haven Restaurant
I have been coming to this little hole in the wall since I was a teenager and it's comforting to know that it hasn't changed too much. Definitely a great lunch place and a cozy atmosphere.
I've always enjoyed their various hot sandwiches and I love the italian style salad dressing they use on their side salads.
Chestnut Cottage Restaurant
This is THE place to go for a great breakfast, brunch or lunch.
I have never had anything from the menu that I didn't care for. From tasty veggie browns, to huge lunch salads you won't go hungry and your taste buds will be pleased. Great place to go to catch up with friends or bring out of town guests. Service is always welcoming, and they don't try to rush you.
Pacific Cafe
Another hidden gem in the Richmond district. Very fresh, and simply prepared seafood dishes. Nothing to avant-gard, just the basics. It's popular with the locals as evidenced by the line out the door on most nights because they don't take reservations but...here's the best part, how about a free glass of wine (or two) while you wait?
Roadside BBQ
This is the place to go for BBQ. You wouldn't expect a BBQ joint in the Richmond to be too outstanding, but I have had a great meal each time I've come. Their BBQ is slow cooked, the meat is very flavorful and not dry. The chicken literally falls off the bone and the ribs..well let's just say it's a good thing they keep a roll of paper towels on each table because you're going to need them. To round out the meat entrees, they have a variety of sides to choose from. Everything from garlic fries, to mac and cheese and cornbread.
I really like the mixed vegetables which also have a grilled flavor to them.
Pizzetta
Great little gem in the Richmond District. Artisan pizzettas (thin crust) traditional toppings like pepperoni, or change it up with the local specialty of the day such as goat cheese and figs. Very tasty, and they use local and organic products. Very small restaurant so go early or be prepared to wait with a glass of wine or dine outside, with heating lamps, which let's face it in the Richmond District only go so far. They are closed on weird days sometimes so call before you go to make sure they are open.
