If you're looking for a doctor who really cares, you've found him. I cannot say enough good things about this man. He goes above and beyond. The office/nurse staff are also fabulous. HIGHLY recommended.
Advanced and experience practitioner, who's also friendly. I've never had to wait long for an appointment. Nice selection of frames. Convenient location on Hawthorne Blvd. with plenty of (free) parking. Staff are helpful and attentive.
One of my favorite restaurants in L.A. Definitely a special-occasion place. The food is fabulous, service great (even a footstool for your purse, so you don't have to put it on the - plushly carpeted - floor!) Knowledgeable staff, tranquil atmosphere (one of the few QUIET restaurants still remaining in L.A., apparently!). Highly recommended if you don't mind splurging.
The bar is a lovely place to sit comfortably and watch the sunset. Nice wine and liquor selection and snacks can be ordered from a brief menu. The cafe serves good food in a nice atmosphere. When I ate there on my own, the staff brought me magazines and treated me royally. I was impressed, since usually I'm treated like a pariah if I dine alone (they assume they'll get a lower tip).
This place is owned by the same folks as Mangiamos, a larger restaurant down the street, as far as I understand. I much prefer Talias. It's more friendly, smaller, and the food is better (in my humble opinion!). Never had a bad meal here. Generous portions. Nice wine selection. Definitely worth the money...and if you want to save on dessert, afterwards, there's a great icecream shop that stays open late, just down the street!
I hadn't been to Cafe Pierre for a while and was surprised to find that so much had changed when I went back again recently. Have been several times since, as the new chef is great. The sauce (creamy, brandy, yummy) one one of the steak dishes was so good that I confess to scooping it up (from someone else's plate, no less) on a spoon. On more than one occasion, we have called the chef to the table to thank him personally for the great food. The new decor doesn't help the acoustics, sad to say. Mirrored walls make for high decibel levels, but - except on the very busiest of nights - it's worth it for the food. The menu includes quite a few more adventurous dishes that you won't find everywhere you go. And you can walk it all off with a stroll on the pier afterwards. What's not to love!?
Renowned for its salumi and cheese board (great as a shared appetizer), this place also has excellent house-made pastas, as well as tasty entrees and desserts. Service is usually skilled and friendly (tho the last time we went, we had a waiter we'd never seen before who spoke little English and was positively surly). The noise level is high so if you're looking for a quiet, romantic evening, this might not be your choice. But all in all a good experience. Reservations are pretty much essential as this is one of the few South Bay restaurants that matches Westside eateries in quality.
