i love this place, i call from 50 miles out to have a deep dish ready when i hit the city,my favorite is the spinach, garlic, with itallian saugage, one large lasts about two days of left overs.
lunch in this place is always a delight, i like the spagettie and meatballs, a good old world feel that i miss in chicago. any of the pastas are great also the manacotti and the sauses taste like i made themself.
this the place to go to for the best five finger cavatelli, and lots of it. all the food is great . a small place and very comfortable to dine in.the wine menue is easy and all good.
this is only place in chicago to get the best home made sausage, weiners, brats,
and all cuts of meat, bring on the easter ham,the place was a great find.
always the place to get the cookies you need, linzers and almond cookies,
and for me either the apple flan, or the wonderful flourless chocalate souffle cake.
if i have time i stay and have one of the daily soups.
deffinitly the place to go when in chicago, go early the place fills up fast, when inside
the menue is amusing and all the dawgs are great especially the daily special and don't miss the weekend french fries cooked in duck fat on then weekend.
In all I have had the portillo hotdog is still the best original chicago hotdog.
the itallian combo(beef and itallian saugage), is a good reason to go to chicago,
and there everywhere.
If you have a taste for the not so common grits in the city,go to wishbone and have the shrimp and cheese grits, and the rest of the menue is just as good, crabe cakes.
every time I'm in Chicago i always make it a point to go to bite cafe, the food is plentiful and especially the specials. the brunch Caribbean meatloaf is aw some.
