Pomodoro
This Italian restaurant is smaller than many other eateries in the North End with capacity for 24 patrons, but it is quite popular. Space is tight and the tables are small, but the food is outstanding and portions are large. I usually start with a casear salad follwed by a large choice of pasta selections, you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu here. Serves beer and wine. Does not accept credit cards; cash only
Bella Vista
Of the dozens of Italian restaurants that line Hanover Street in Boston's North End, this may be one of the friendliest. Small tables pack the tiny dining room where families come to celebrate. I love their lobster fra diavolo, the house specialty. Generous portions so you better come hungry. The restaurant serves beer and wine and the prices are reasonable.
Bo Concept Furniture
This is your ticket to Scandinavia! That's what I found out when I went and the staff explained that The Bo concept is all about sleek lines and comfortable designs for your living room, bedroom, office and more. I love the snazzy accessories and got some for my house. It's a unique style and a store worth visiting.
Bahay
In the Filipino language, the word "bahay" means house. A step into this homey shop provides a glimpse of the wonderful artwork of the Philippine islands. "Mabuhay" means welcome, and that is how the shop owner made me feel once I entered. They have a fine selection of beautiful handmade handicrafts. I've been several times for a special gift, and the jewelry selection showcases many impressive offerings. And from baskets to bowls, the accessories in this shop will add superb style to any decor. Very unique store.
Aperture Book Center
I love this store. Top notch world renowned photographers and their books that examine sociological issues. Amazing pictures I bought a book for my coffee table. Definitely worth going to this store even though its a little off the beaten path. The store is also affiliated with a non-profit organization.
Melrose Beach Tanning
Great packages and price options, lots of good lotions and good variety of tanning beds. The spray tan was great and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They weren't pushy either, relaxed comfortable setting and it is a clean place. They also have massage and skin treatment next door which is great for the price.
Antonio Prieto Salon
I went here before my cousin's wedding to get a really nice haircut. I paid a pretty penny for it but they treat you like royalty. It's nice to see how the other side lives once and a while and in the future when I am making lots of money I will go back for the best hair cut experience of my life.
Agnes B
Especially at Christmas I go to Agnes B.'s for dresses, skirts, sweaters and blouses when I want something for my girlfriend that's elegant, sophisticated and has European flare. I go and I feel like I'm stepping into the a boutique feels in the South of France. Nothing comes inexpensively, but the prices are not outrageous for clothing of such high quality.
Academy Bookstore
Rare nowadays is the small bookshop in the neighborhood that has interesting and hard to find books. I love this store because I don't have to support such a mega chain like Barnes and Nobles and I find all kinds of really cool books here. And the staff is helpful and extremely knowledgeable.
Area Id
Area id is a boutique that stocks sleek, modernist inspired furniture and home accessories by contemporary designers, as well as pristine vintage pieces. I am horrible at decorating but with this store I bought a few different pieces and it gave my apartment a whole new character. I spent a pretty penny but it was worth it.
