Little Havana Restaurantey
This is a little spot with decent service and a decent sunday entree brunch. The view is from the other side of the harbor (which is nice) but it's behind a chain link fence (not so nice). The bathrooms...also, not so nice...actually, they're gross. I went in and decided to wait until we went to our next location after brunch to use the bathroom. The server was very attentive. The hostess, on the otherhand, seemed clueless and we waited a long time to be seated. All in all, not a bad spot for just hanging out...but that's it. B-more has much better to offer.
Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort
This is your typical hotel -- nothing special. It's not even on the beach - it's across the street. The only thing nice about the hotel is its spa. Other than that, it's just a large, regular hotel. Luckily, I stayed there with work, otherwise I would have been very disappointed. Marriott could have done a lot better since the hotel is in a prime vacation spot...Marriott left the "resort" out of the hotel and added it just to the name.
Hard Rock Cafe
The hostesses are disorganized; the wait staff are way too informal (our waiter sat at the table with us while taking our order); the food is the same menu you'd find at a Chili's or TGIF, except it's more expensive; The music was soo loud that my friends and I had to shout at each other just to have a conversation. Nothing remarkable about this Hard Rock.
Capital Grille
The food was over the top delicious! The waitstaff was excellent and very proactive to your needs -- even before a need was expressed. The only thing that was not good to me was the lobster mac 'n cheese. It was too rich, but everyone else in our party loved it.
Great atmosphere -- a good time had by all.
Con -- our party size grew and they could not /would not accomodate the additional people. I don't blame Capital Grille because we had the set reservations, which they timely honored, but some of our party didn't arrive until a 1/2 hour later, after we were seated.
Be prepared to pay a nice price for the food -- but that's typical of a steakhouse. Worth every penny.
Royal Cleaners
Their work is punctual and efficient. The owner is very friendly. They have a small discount on Wed and Sat - otherwise, they are kind of pricey.
Con: You may have to shout your dressshirts before dropping them off, otherwise, they may still have ring-around the collar when you pick up the shirts.
They also do a decent job with alternations, although my husband has had to take several pairs of dresspants back for them to re-do becuase the hem fell.
Donnas Coffee Bar
This is one of my favorite lunch spots in Baltimore. Everything on the menu is soo very tasty and you can tell that it is freshly prepared.
The service is good and even when their packed, you get attentive service and don't feel rushed to leave.
Even though it doesn't feel like it, Donna's is a chain. They have another location on Falls Road -- not a fan. The food is equally good at the Falls Road location, but the service is beyond sub-par.
Maryland Spca
This is a great place to adopt your next pet. The staff is friendly and you can tell from the moment that you drive onto the facility that they really care for these animals. If you are a new pet owner, they also have classes and information on their website on how to take care of your new "addition" to the family. I was also very impressed with the cleanliness of their facility.
The Yabba Pot
The times I've gone, the service has been decent and prompt. The cashier even threw in an extra dish because they were out of the dish I'd orginially wanted. Seating is tight and limited, but it's still a comfy place and the food is good. The menu is some what limited and they do run out of food quickly. But all in all, you'll enjoy the food and it's the best vegan restaurant I've been to in B-more so far. Check them out on their open mic poetry nights.
Courtyard On Saint James Place The Banquets
We had our wedding reception here and it was perfect. The restaurant is open during the week for semi-formal lunch, but they specialize in weekend galas. They have 4 rooms to accomodate your party's size and a designated planner to help you coordinate the details. The food was so very good and even the house wine selection was top shelf. The facilities are beautiful - they are featured in many wedding magazines...and to top it off, their prices are reasonable!
