Mr. Beef and Pizza has a 1950's Rock 'n Roll charm to it. The floor is black/white tiled, there is a jukebox, and the booths have a cool teal glitter look to them. There is also an arcade/game room attached.
The food is good and the prices are decent. You can host a party in the small room for very reasonable rates. Their finger food / appetizers are great. I'd definitely recommended the broccoli cheese puffs -- fried broccoli and cheese, delicious!
I'm not overly impressed with the waitstaff at Little Villa. We do a lot of carry out because of this. The waitresses have always been cranky and a bit rude. There is a nice sports bar area with tvs where we had a more laidback waitress but on the whole, it's not a very friendly atmosphere.
The pizza is decent and they offer a lot of coupons on a regular basis.
My cousin had her wedding at Manzo's in July. The air conditioner went out and we spent a good deal of time chasing people around trying to get them to fix it. The food was okay, the chicken was a bit dry. There was a giant weight bearing pole in the middle of the room. It seemed odd at first but blended in quite well.
I cannot recommend this facility for weddings/banquets because of the air conditioner problem.
The Wellington has good steak, but the price is a bit high. I feel that $30 for a steak entree is a bit out of bounds. You can easily buy a steak and some veggies for far less than $30.
Charcoal delights is caught between McDonalds, KFC, Wendy's, and Arby's. The food isn't great enough to be competitive. They have fried chicken, but if I want fried chicken why would't I go to KFC? THey have burgers, but McDonald's is cheaper.
I've never been impressed with their food. Also, when you order in the drive thru, you have to wait quite a bit of time for your meal. This is a pain because if you order a drink but the person in front of you ordered a whole meal, you have to wait for that person to move for you to leave.
You can get to Tiffany's easily from I-294 on the Touhy exit. Next to Tiffany's is a business hotel. Because of the access to a hotel and to the highway, there is a wide variety of customers. The facility is kept neat and clean, with a more classy feel which offsets the occasional less than savory people who stop off to eat there. The facility and waitstaff are excellent, and the food is prepared quickly.
This is a good all around restaurant. You can easily go on a date, on a business meeting, or with the family.
Wally's has a wide selection of food, including burgers, ribs, chicken, sausages, beef, and gyros. Their food is a titch expensive, but well worth it. The gyros comes on an excellent pita with wonderful flavorings. The chicken tenders are fantastic with a nice tany barbeque sauce.
Barnabys has been around for years. They have big heavy wooden booths and tables that give it a sort of rustic charm. The facility is always clean. There are tvs located around the restaurant so you can check in with the game or the news. The food is always hot and always at a reasonable price.
We get pizza from Little Villa once every few months at big family get togethers. Little Villa offers a lot of coupons so save them up!
I've never been impressed with the waitstaff and this restaurant, but the pizza is decent for the price (wtih coupons).
The Sugar Bowl has been a long time anchor for the downtown Des Plaines area. Money hungry contractors are eager to shut the Sugar Bowl down to build more condos. Show some support for the little guy and go to the Sugar Bowl!
