Midpines, CA Grocery Stores 04/12/08: 'Quaint'

This is a small rural store with your typical refridgerator of sodas and beer. You can get some survival items and some milk and packaged cereal. This is also a gas station and a movie rental stop. Prices are higher in Midpines as you get closer to Yosemite.

Mariposa, CA Movers - Mariposa, CA Gas Stations - Mariposa, CA Grocery Stores - Mariposa, CA Convenience Stores 04/12/08: 'Charming'

You can pick up a few items here. This is a quaint small store with some unique gift items as well as some sandwiches. You might enjoy the sweet smelling soaps made by some locals. Prices are reasonable.

Mariposa, CA Grocery Stores 04/11/08: 'Not Impressive'

Some people frequent this store, but I prefer not to. I did not find the produce as fresh as I would like. Their other items are the run of the mill packaged and frozen foods. They may have a fairly good Asian food section. Prices are competitive.

Pioneer Meat Market & Delicatessen

Mariposa, CA Delis - Mariposa, CA Supermarkets 04/11/08: 'Growing'

On your way to Yosemite you need to make a stop in the town of Mariposa. There you can visit Pioneer Market to get some good food and drinks. Sure they have all the regular packaged foods, but they have been improving the quality. They now have Odwalla and Bolthouse juices and fresh hydoponic lettuces. They have just added organic granola cereals. Prices are very reasonable.

Mariposa, CA Towing 04/10/08: 'Timely'

This is a good company and they are available when you need them. No complaints about them. They handled towing my car to the repair shop without a hitch. The young man was helpful and knowledgeable and indeed competent. Price was reasonable.

This is a little shop with lots to sell. We get our railroad trains and tracks and anything we could possibly want to add to our train set here. The owner is a helpful gentleman who is friendly and willing to order anything you might want. Prices are very reasonable.

San Jose, CA Art Supplies - San Jose, CA Picture Framing 04/10/08: 'Quality'

This is a very good place to get good quality art supplies. You might find their prices higher than other stores, but they have quality that lasts. I have items that are over ten years old that still serve me well. They have some beautiful art boards, portfolio carriers, rapidograph pens, just great stuff for graphic arts.

Oakhurst, CA Restaurants 04/10/08: 'Enjoyable'

This is a convenient little coffee house that opens up early 7 am and supplies all those commuters with their caffeine. The also serve some nice pastries too. On the weekends it is fun to get ice cream from them. They also serve some decent sandwiches too. Prices are reasonable.

This is a fun place to browse and buy. I always purchase silver and gem earrings when I go here. They have unique clothing and musical instruments from India. What I love to do is tap on the drums that they have imported from Africa and elsewhere. They have large and small Buddha statues. Really a nice place with good prices.

Mariposa, CA Art Galleries - Mariposa, CA Charitable Institutions 04/10/08: 'Lovely Place'

This is such a nice place to take in the local artists work. So much of Yosemite in all the beautiful seasons are there. Lovely oils, wonderful watercolors, there is so much talent in these Sierra hills. They also have unique pottery pieces and other unusual fiberart. They have prints for sale at very reasonable prices.
