Luigi O'Grady's Delicatessen
The sandwiches at this deli are great, piled high with deli meat, they make at least two meals! Their bread is excellent and they always have a line (even if you order before you go!). My only complaint about this deli is when my brother was going for his Eagle badge in boyscouts, he called them to see if they would sponser him and they barked to him "no soliciting" and hung up on him. A little politeness would have been nice.
North Middletown Citgo Svc Ctr
This service station is great - my whole family uses them for everything from oil changes to major repair work. They are extremely honest as well, I had brought my car to them thinking that I needed new breaks and they let me know that working on them was not necessary and wouldn't be for quite some time. I once brought my car to another shop so that I could get a 'check engine' light checked on and they didn't check it, telling me that it was probably the gas cap giving the car a false reading. I knew that wasn't the case so brought it here and they found that it was a sensor that needed replacing. I highly recommend.
Posa Posa Pizzeria & Restrnt
I really love this pizza place for their many variety's of delicious pizzas. My favorite is their pizzetta's, they are small pizza's (around 12", big enough to share or eat all yourself if you're hungry enough) that they make fresh.
The pizzetta margherita is wonderful or I'm addicted to the salad one. They also have a wonderful lunch menu, my favorite is the Chicken Solo Mio, a chicken in light citrus and garlic sauce. You can get salad or pasta with your lunch meal and the price is pretty good.
I highly recommend for lunch or dinner (either the dining room or the pizzaria side).
Michele Michelle Italian Rest
I had heard of this restaurant from a colleague who highly praised it and went with a few friends. The restaurant is in a little strip mall that is very easy to miss. The decor is over the top, too many personal items that it looked cluttered and over-dressed.The wine that we tried to order was not available so we settled on a Merlot, which was good, but the entrees weren't the best. One of my friends got eggplant Parmesan and said that it was a different style than he had ever had and didn't like it much. My other friend got a Chicken Marsala type dish that he liked but there wasn't much to "wow" him about it. The entree that I got was chicken with broccoli and mini meatballs (which sounded good when I ordered it but was extremely strange when I got it).I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and won't be returning. It was a disappointment. The only plus was that the service was good and we didn't have to wait long for anything.
Casa Mia Manor House
I've booked my August '08 wedding at this catering hall under high recommendations from my family. My brother and parents had been there for an Eagle ceremony and highly recommended the food and service. Velma is extremely easy to work with, is working with my requirements and never tires of my endless calls and questions. With our wedding package, we get a private tasting, the cocktail hour, sit-down dinner and the wedding cake! It's a really great deal when prices start around $70/person and there is ample on-site parking (and valet is available). The room is in pretty good shape, is pretty and exactly what I was looking for; the right price, simple and elegant. It's definitely not one of those wedding mills! Also, as an added bonus, you could have your ceremony there and there is also a pretty outside patio (which would mostly be for the smokers but at least they're not standing on the highway). The only hotel close is a Holiday Inn which is extremely run-down. I've booked with a hotel in Nanuet on Route 59 that will only take about 15 minutes to get to from Casa Mia.PROS: Great food, great priceCONS: Room could use a little work, nice hotels not within walking distance
Magique Studios
I've booked this photographer for my wedding. A colleague of mine at work recommended them as her cousin had them fort their wedding. I also saw the pictures they took of a friends wedding - so beautiful! They were the fourth or fifth photographer that I had gone to see and they were very nice. I got an amazing deal and because I didn't need all the items in the package, they let me replace it with other items.
I brought my fiancee with me and we booked with Jorge, one of their photographers, he's got a great attitude and I'm excited to work with him.
PROS: Great portfolio and personality
CONS: None
Gentle Healing Wellness Spa
I love this spa! I've been there for a manicure/pedicure which was a little older style than the nail salons (didn't have the jet tubs for the toes) but was very high on attention. The person doing my mani/pedi did an excellent job and spent a lot of time and attention on my nails resulting in an wonderful, relaxing time.
I've also gotten a massage there; I called on a Friday and they managed to fit me in for a Saturday afternoon massage. My massage was with a massage therapist named Ian - can I say wonderful! Wow, he had wonderful pressure, not too soft and not too hard. I felt absolutely wonderful afterwards and will definitley be going back.
Parking was a little bit of problem when I went the second time but only because it was a Saturday and they're doing renovations in the lot beside the spa.
PROS: Great services, prices are reasonable as well
CONS: None
Z-Spa
I have only gone to Z-spa for waxing, which they do an excellent job and are very reasonably priced. I used to get waxing done at the local nail salon but tried Z-spa once and not only were they less expensive but their work was excellent (recovery time from a bikini wax was extremely quick compared to when I got it done at the nail salon). I highly recommend for waxing to go to Z-spa. The only thing that's a little strange is the parking. They have parking but it's parallel parking, otherwise this place is great!
PROS: Great price, great result
CONS: Parking a little strange
Vogue Hair Salon
I have gotten my hair cut and dyed here several times. They do an excellent job but are a little pricey. When I got both a cut and a dye it was over $100 (and that didn't include a tip). While it was pricey it was excellent and I would go there for a three-month interval but wouldn't go every six weeks like you're supposed to.
PROS: Great job, don't have to worry about them ruining your hair
CONS: Pricey
Bath & Body Works
I love Bath & Body Works products! I love the soaps, lotions, and body sprays; you can get them for really great deals if you wait for a sale (3/$15 or 4/$20). Also, if you give them your phone number at checkout, they'll send you coupons. There are always people around to help you and they'll even get you shopping bags to hold all your purchases in. Overall a great product that everyone can afford! I highly recommend.
