What a cute restaurant and delicious food! They often have teas here during the holidays for you and your daughters. Please if you go get the Baked Boursin Framboise; its one of those that you are scrapping the puff pastry into the raspberry vinaigrette and you are so sad when it's gone...and that is only the appetizer! They have outside seating and inside seating. They have a store upstairs (harder to get to if you have bad knees). The seating inside is in nooks redone in a house; makes it quite charming. Excellent food choices. You will pay an average price for fancy dining. Appetizers average $9 a piece, entrees average $20.
I had been to Bobbywood when it was on the other end of Granby and when it moved to Monticello Avenue I was excited to try it again. The new Bobbywood is MUCH fancier than the old Bobbywood but the food is just as good if not better than ever. He has the coolest 'spoons' - no not as a utensil but it's more like an appetizer. Its a reasonably size taste of an appetizer for $2,$3, or $4 each; which is neat because you could have 3 of those for the price of 1 appetizer. Whenever I'm in Norfolk it's usually for a Girl's Night so seating is important because we are there all night talking and eating; great seating, I love a comfy chair. I'm a huge fan of goat cheese and their goat cheese appetizer is awesome! The entrees are pricey but of great variety. If you wanted you could go for just the spoons, appetizers and salad. Or a lot of times I like to split an entree so I can fit dessert. I highly recommend Bobbywood and I'm so happy that he maintained his casual attitude in a fancy setting.
Sterling's was good food. It reminded me of a typical steak fancy restaurant, which is good and bad. Good because the steak was delicious, bad because all sides are extra. If you want broccoli or rice it's a side that you pay for. They had great appetizers and I could have gotten two or three of those for the price of one steak. Service was excellent, friendly, not rushed, not up-sold. Seating comfortable, always a plus because we chat for hours!
I had a hard time finding this restaurant but then again I'm geographically challenged. Excellent dinner for a quiet night with a date or friends. A place where you can sit and chat and not feel rushed. Excellent food, huge variety. Reasonable prices for entrees $15 - $23. Interesting history about the restaurant as well!
PRO's: Excellent food, excellent service
CON's: Where the heck is it?
This is definitely a little bar bistro! Don't go late at night when it turns into a bar, unless you are prepared to share your table with those standing around. The martini's are expensive, ouch, but the dinners excellent! The desserts yummmm. They also have Crackers in Norfolk too, that's even smaller but quieter if you don't want the Granby bar scene.
Fellini's seems tucked away and may not at first seem easy to get too but once you are there you will remember it and will want to come back. The bar is in the middle of the restaurant but the atmosphere for dining on the outskirts is cozy and dark, reminds you of a typical Italian type mobster restaurant, without the mob of course :) The pizza's are fantastic. The entrees are huge and the bread, oh the bread! Great price for a great variety!
I have to say when I first walked in I was worried I might not be in for the best food experience. I was 100% WRONG. It was fantastic. The waiter(s) were nice, fun and helpful. The dinner reminded of food old Italian's mom made in the kitchen for their kids, saying "Mangiare! Mangiare!" Decent price for excellent experience!
When they were off Granby (as a smaller restaurant) I thought it was so much better than the snobby air I felt the time I went back to their new location on Main Street. The server(s) seemed more interested in giving the facade of an 'experience' than being excited about their specials, interacting with our group, etc. The food was good but not good enough to feel that you weren't deserving of it. If you want to be 'seen' dine here if you want to 'eat' skip it.
That's their tag line and I love it. Cozy restaurant, comfortable seating for a long girl's night. They have the best tapa's around. Their gnocchi is out of this world. I always like everything on their menu. I think getting tons of small plates and being able to taste everyone's food is the most fun. If you want a typical appetizer, entree, dessert, type full courses this is not your place. If you want to try 10 different appetizer type plates that taste big like entrees this is it. Desserts so good. Best is price. Each plate is between $5 and $10? So good.
We went here for my birthday with my two daughters. They had the dumplings, plain sticky rice, and miso soup (All very good). My husband and I had the sushi. (Good but nothing special.) Typical sushi restaurant with sushi bar and tables. The chairs weren't overly comfortable. The waitress was very nice. My husband ordered ice cream for me as a surprise for dessert, but they got confused and delivered it with our dinner, oops.
