Mieko's Lake City Fitness

I have been a member of this gym since before it's Mieko's days- back when it was still Canyon Park Fitness. And I used to love it! Now I can't speak for the rest of the Mieko's locations, but this one has gone steadily downhill since the Miekos management took over. They've managed to turn a nice, private feeling local gym into a hard selling build memberships mentality gym. Before, I never had to wait for equipment and I could always count on my fitness classes for a great workout. Since becoming Mieko's the gym has become overly crowded, to the point where you can't even get on a treadmill and there is no chance of getting into the peak hour classes unless you constantly sign up a week in advance. Now this might not be such a bad deal if they were at least investing some of the money they are making back into the club, however I have only seen a couple new machines added and they have actually fired instructors. Did I mention the cost of membership is a lot higher than the big chain gyms? So why join? This place is convenient if you are in the Bothell/Canyon Park/Mill Creek area and the members are very nice and down to earth (this is not a gym where people go to hang out and look cute). Basically, my advice is if you have a better option, go with it.
