Perfect Grooming

Falls Church, VA Pet Washing & Grooming 06/05/08: 'FINALLY FOUND - an excellent groomer!!'

I was referred to Luke and Purrfect Grrooming after I had bad experiences at two other groomers. What a wonderful experience! He listened to my request and got it exactly right -- Bear looks gorgeous, smells great (no more super industrial-smelling shampoo that stinks up the car on the ride home), and most importantly, came home happy and stress-free. Best of all, the price was a fraction of what I expected (and what I had paid elsewhere for much inferior service). Luke, you have a customer for life!!

Belle Haven Animal Medical Ctr

Alexandria, VA Animal Hospitals - Alexandria, VA Veterinarians 05/05/08: 'TOP NOTCH VETERINARY CARE!!'

I LOVE Belle Haven and all the vets there! I have been a client for 8 years and absolutely love it there. Our regular vet is Dr. Terri Donohue, and she is so down to earth and caring. She always recommends giving OTC meds instead of prescription, which can be quite pricey. Recently my oldest dog injured her leg while playing. In examining Sasha's leg, Dr. Katz noticed that all of her lymph nodes were swollen and recommended a needle aspirate and blood test. The diagnosis came back: lymphona, and we took her to a veterinary oncologist several days later, where she started chemotherapy. Her cancer would never have been discovered if Dr. Katz hadn't been as thourough in a routine injured leg exam. I would (and DO!) recommend them to everyone I know, I just can't say enough good things about them. :-)

Bark Avenue

Alexandria, VA Pet Washing & Grooming 04/28/08: 'Great cut, but huge lack of customer service'

I took my newf/chow mix here after have a very bad experience at another groomer. I called first and spoke to one of the owners -- she was very pleasant and spoke with me at length. I felt comfortable taking my dog and made an appointment. When I arrived I was greeted (not really) the the other owner, who made me feel like I was disrupting her day by walking in. She looked at my dog, commented that his dandruff was caused by the "crap" I fed him, then wrote down my contact info and attemped to force my dog into a crate against his will. I was half a second from walking out, but he really needed to be groomed and I really wanted to give them a chance. She said "we'll call you when he's done" without verifying what I wanted done. When I said I wanted him cut, she acted shocked and said she was just going to bathe and blow him out. Ummm....no.... When I returned to pick him up he looked great, but the groomer who worked on him commented that I really shouldn't wait so long between cuts, that if money was an issue I wasn't saving any by waiting so long, because it took them longer when I brought him in like that. Obviously no one shared my bad groomer experience with him, but I still felt that was an unneccessary comment. All around it was an uncomfortable experience. The cut came out great, but unfortunately I won't return because I was made to feel like an inferior dog owner with their nonstop unsolicited advice. As owner of a pet sitting business, I was hoping to refer them to my clients, as well as use them for my own dogs, but I won't go back there. I left a message for the first owner, the one I talked to originally, the day after our appointment, and got no return call.
