Cataloochee Ski Area
Catalooche Ski Area is a nice area for southern skiiers -- that is, those who enjoy skiing but don't particularly live and breathe it 24/7. It's a great place for beginners -- my first time skiing was here. They everything from bunny slopes (beginner) to black diamond slopes (expert). They also have a cozy ski lodge where you can rest by the fire.
Castillo de San Marcos
Castillo de San Marcos (St. Mark's Castle) is an original old Spanish fort in St. Augustine, FL. It is open to the public. They still have many original cannons in place and there are historical guides along the way to inform you as you walk through.
Columbia Restaurant
Located in the heart of Old Town, the Columbia restaurant transports you right back to Spain. They have traditional Spanish dishes and more familiar Americanized versions. The atmosphere is one of a kind -- you truly feel like you're in a different country!
Fred's Super Dollar
Fred's is my favorite bargain store. It's the "nicest" of the dollar stores in town and you can often find random, charming things. I found Diego Rivera prints for my Spanish classroom for $.87 one day. You can often find lamps, frames, or pillows to accent your home for less.
Crab House At Pier 39
Crab House at Pier 39 is a great place for the first time visitor to Fisherman's Wharf...like I was when I visited. They restaurant has brightly painted crab shells around the walls. You also get to keep your crab crackin' tools. Fun place!
Duval Acura
This is a great dealership. My parents bought a car from Duval 3 years ago and it has been a pleasure to do business with them. The salesperson we worked with wasn't pushy.
Bookshelf
When I lived in Thomasville, this was my favorite store. They have an variety of books for any age and reading level. The staff is friendly and are glad to help you find things.
Wong's Palace Restaurant
Wong's is a great place. Paul, the owner, usually comes around and greets everyone before their meal is done. The food is fairly good -- especially the sesame chicken.
Blackshear Gift Shop
Smith's is a great place to pick up your prescription, a card for your friend's birthday, and a gift for your mother. They have a large selection of cards and gifts for all tastes.
Locos Grill & Pub
Locos is great. I always love their salads but everything I've ordered from there is wonderful. They have a speedy delivery service as well - -great for people on the go!
