The best part about this little market has the cheaper gas than most other places in the area. The market also sells cheaper milk and dairy products than other local stores. There are also snacks and normal "gas station" food but it seems to be fairly priced.
Quaint little coffee shop. They only sell organic coffee, which is preferred in this area. It is small, but clean. There are less than 10 tables but the decor is relaxing and it doesn't feel so small once you are in it. Service was helpful and nice.
This cafe is pretty popular with college students to meet their friends, grab a cup of coffee, and study for hours. They have live music playing on a small stage at least one night a week. Students usually enjoy the laid back atmosphere and a good cup of coffee with their good music while they study.
This soup cafe has a lot of different types of soup- maybe 12-15 each day. The line is usually pretty long but moves fast. You get free bread and even a discount if you bring in one of their reusable bowls. The soup is always hot and cooked very well. I would recommend this soup cafe to anyone.
The food from this Mexican cafe is fresh and hot. It is fairly popular so there is always a line and a wait to get your food. However, they have a popular pre-set lunch menu that you can just walk in and pay for and it is ready for you. A consensus among others who have gone there, as well as me, is that they use a lot of fresh cilantro. If you do not prefer cilantro then you may not enjoy this food.
This cafe has a heavy lunch crowd and long lines. You can either get a sandwich or a salad buffet. The salads are priced by weight so most people leave with small salads. The atmosphere is friendly and the restaurant looks clean.
This cafe is small but is strategically located so that it seems to always have business. It offers breakfast and lunch. Lunch seems to be centered around burgers or sandwiches. Once you order the food, they make it right then. We waited about 10-15 minutes just for a burger. We were expecting it to be quicker. We also found that it was expensive for just a burger, no fries or a drink. It is not a favorite because of the high price, but if you don't care about price, try it out.
This cafe is usually pretty busy at lunch as it is in a business district. It has tinted windows so it doesn't look too busy but it is a nice cool place to sit at mid-day. There are different types of soups and drinks. The soups are at a set price with 2 different sizes. They are a little expensive for just an everyday lunch-buyer, but if you love soup then it would probably be a favorite. The service there is good and quick.
Tia Maria's is a nice little Mexican food cafe in City Center in Oakland. It is a little hidden, underneath the main walkway, near the BART station. The quality of the food is pretty good. It is clean and inviting, and not as busy as other cafes because it is off the main walkway. It is fairly consistent in pricing, as other cafes around the area, but a little high if you are looking for good cheap Mexican food.
Not a great neighborhood but it is okay for a quick stop in and get it place. I wouldn't recommend being out in the neighborhood after dark, as it obviously supplies the locals mainly with alcohol. It is nice to have a store so close that has milk and chips and even sour cream if in a pinch.
