Ashland Street Cinema
The Ashland Street Cinema is a small, charming theatre quite unlike the modern cineplexes of Century, Mann, etc. The staff is friendly and the cinema is well-maintained (although a bit old). Would recommend overall.
Paddington Station
Paddington Station is surely a place to visit in Ashland. The large, two-story shop is full of small treasures and keepsakes. Its a great little gift shop where you'll find something for everyone on your list!
Pasta Piatti
This Italian restaurant serves some of the best-tasting pasta I've ever had. There are so many good options to choose from on the menu. The ambiance is sophisticated but still family-friendly. I will certainly return whenever I go to Ashland!
Panera Bread
The Panera Bakery Cafe at the Janns mall in Thousand Oaks is surprisingly large and spacious. However, during the lunch hours, it still gets packed... and for good reason, since Panera offers many great-tasting, fresh, and healthy foods. The 2 of 3 lunch option (sandwich, soup, or salad) is my favorite. They also have fantastic breads and bagels, so it'd be a good idea to take some home with you!
Sunnyvale Parks & Recreation
Sunnyvale Parks and Recreation deserves a pat on the back for running several great summer camps, classes, and of course, maintaining local parks. Summer camp staff seem well-trained and responsible, and the cost is great, especially considering other summer camp options!
Outback Adventures
Outback Adventures offers many trips, rentals, and equipment for purchase. Some of their trips include kayaking in La Jolla and Mission Bay, hiking/camping trips to Joshua Tree, and many more. Their equipment is high-quality, especially for the rental price, so I'd recommend them if you want to rent a tent for a weekend camping trip or a snowboard for a trip to Big Bear, etc.
Zpizza
Z Pizza is my favorite local pizza place. They use really fresh ingredients and cook it within plain sight (no disappearing into a dirty kitchen). My favorite is the Napoli- the cheese tastes amazing and the fresh basil and tomatoes are just delicious. They have a great pear and gorgonzola salad too that I can never resist. Overall a pit pricier than other pizza joints, but by far the best tasting and highest quality.
Planet Granite
This is a great place to rock climb indoors. There are a variety of walls to try, and everyone from beginners to experts can have a good time. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Equipment is safe and carefully monitored. Planet Granite is a cool place for birthday parties and get-togethers too, pretty much for all ages.
Cardiff Lounge
Cardiff Lounge is a decent place to get a drink, but don't be surprised by the dive bar appearance. The bathrooms are absolutely disgusting, and the place in general could use a good clean. On the other hand, drinks are good and cheaper than most in the Bay Area.
jakes pizza
Jake's is a local and family favorite. They've got the classic solid wood tables and sports decor of a true pizza parlor. Pizza is great- thick (with a terrific crust!) and topped with fresh toppings. There's always a few kids buzzing around the arcade games, so its got a fun family feel for sure!
