Halo
Very cool atmosphere, all mod with white furniture. Has two floors, cool lighting and great drinks. They are known for their martinis and mojitos which are made using fresh fruit. Very nice touch! They also have a buy one, get one free happy hour. You buy the first drink and they give you your receipt to use to get your next drink for free. The normal prices are also reasonable.
Katz's Deli & Bar
Wow! This place is crazy! It's a big hang out for the after bar hopping crowd. Therefore, the clientele is somewhat rough. We had an encounter, the minute we arrived, with a racist who yelled slurs at one of our Asian friends. Then the waitress spilled a drink on one of our party. I almost got slapped by some drunk girl for asking her if anyone was using the empty chair at her table. Oh, and the food is not very good.
Racines Restaurant
This is a great place to have brunch. Plenty of things to choose from on the menu. The Bloody Mary was fantastic. That might be due to the hang over from the night before. Regardless, the food is good, service was good, and there is plenty of seating.
Steuben's
The vintage decor is very cool. This place is kinda small and they don't have much space for you to wait. The food is good, we sat at a high top table which was neat. The drinks were also good. Very attentive staff! I would recommend this place to friends and family.
Avenue Bar & Grill
This is a cool place to go for dinner and you can probably run into some locals. I went when I was visiting Denver for a friends birthday. The food was really good but I was a little disappointed in the fact that almost every entree comes with the same sides: wasabi mashed potatoes and a spring roll. Although, my entree and the two sides were very good.
Elbow Room
This place is really cool. The atmosphere is great and you will probably run into some Baylor Hospital employees since it's just down the street. I have not eaten here before but I hear the food is good. I have had a few (many) drinks at the Elbow Room. The crowd is eclectic. I used to go here with a friend who was a bike messenger and I have a doctor friend who goes here! You never know who you will meet. Great place to hang out and drink.
Mantus Ultra Lounge
Yet another Ultra Lounge in downtown Dallas. A friend of mine hates Ultra Lounges! This one is not too bad. The night I went they didn't even have a fake line of people waiting to get in! It's located under the Iron Cactus in the old PD Johnson's location. Inside is kinda cool with a lot of blue lighting. Music was good and the place did get packed as the night went on. Not a big space and no where to sit unless you want to pay some outrageous price for bottle service. Drinks were good and typical price for downtown. The bartender made good drinks and was friendly. The crowd was surprisingly laid back and friendly, not typical for an ultra lounge.
Thoth Lounge
Located in downtown Dallas and a part of the Ultra Lounge Scene. The night I went it was pretty dead and this place is tiny! There was a group of people having a birthday party. They were dressed in an 80's theme. Kinda fun. Drinks were good and not too pricey considering this is an Ultra Lounge. They did not require bottle service the night I was there. The interior is in an Egyptian style and it's a very interest look.
Henk's European Deli
Henk's has authentic German food and a great atmosphere. Always an interesting crowd with many German speakers. Has an accordion player on certain nights and after a few beers people will start singing along! Also has a good selection of German beers. I have had several things on the menu, the wurst is always good.
Celebration Restaurant
This place is always good. Have been many times and the food is very tasty. This place has been doing family style portions long before Maggiano's and all the others came to Dallas. Down home, southern and friendly.
