My 16 year old son wanted a cut and after being quoted $45 in many salons around the Village we walked over to Astor Pl. There was no line (usually we've seen one) and walked right in. Immediately he was in a chair and the stylist was cutting away. She took her time--no rushed cut here and gave him the best cut he's ever had. He wanted spiked on top and usually his very thick hair is uncooperative. She used scissors to thin it out on top and even at the end when she saw a couple of areas that needed neating once the apron came off--she cleaned his neck line up. Amazing! It was only $14 plus tip (I over tipped given the quality of the cut.). Everyone around us was getting different styles--and there were women, men, kids, multiracial clients all getting tremendously great cuts. Most seemed to be "regulars" too--a good sign.
