This place has great barbecue, and they make everything right there, including their bread! It's awesome, from the turkey to the pork. It looks like a shack, but that's part of the style - it's definitely pricier than a roadside BBQ stand, but still definitely affordable, and for the portions you get, it's a great deal. The kids' meals are more expensive than anywhere else I've been - about $6, if I remember right - but they are HUGE and are easily two meals for a child. The flavor is incredible, and the atmosphere is perfect - this is the REAL DEAL.
This restaurant has a great menu of homestyle favorites - fried chicken, mac and cheese, etc. The main dishes were great, as were the sides, and their bread was good as well. They brought the kids wikistix to play with while we waited - totally entertaining and kept them way more interested than the usual crayons! A nice touch.
The ice cream here is awesome - even just the plain sweet cream flavor - and they have a good range of toppings, sundaes, shakes, etc. The sundaes and shakes are sometimes a safer bet because they're priced, whereas the ice cream is sold by weight, so you never really know what you're in for until they've scooped it and rung it up, which is a bit frustrating. But, the ice cream is good enough to put up with it!
This deli has a lunch crowd, and it's a pretty small place, so you might have to wait for a seat. The sandwiches are great - try the Muffaletta! - and the kid options (PB with banana and honey, etc.) are a hit also. Would be great if they came with a side, but they only come with a pickle - nonetheless, the sandwiches themselves are pretty huge, so it's not too much of a loss. Very casual, low-key, with high-quality good food. Great for a lunch after playing at Coolidge Park.
Back Inn Cafe has a fantastic breakfast menu, and their lunch menu is great as well - though it's widely varied with things like grilled chicken salad, salmon with fried green tomato and asparagus, or a bento box filled with a California roll and squid salad, they do it all well, and serve it impeccably. Though they don't have it printed, they do a kids' menu, which is the same as their sister-restaurant, Tony's - pizza, mac & cheese, and a few other options that - despite being typical kid-menu items - are done really well and taste really good. Great views of the river!
Tony's is amazing because it's equally great for a romantic dinner or a lunch or night out with the family. Their food is awesome - the lasagna is cheesy, perfectly sauced, generous, and fantastic!!! - and the atmosphere is great as well? upscale enough to feel special and quality, but not so much that it's stuffy at all. Totally relaxing. Their porch makes the experience even better. The kids' menu is good - standard stuff like pizza with fries is actually done really well and tastes great. And the bread and olive oil dip with grated parmesan sets the meal up perfectly. LOVE IT!!!
This place is truly beautiful and amazing. The atmosphere is awesome - really European in feel, and just quiet, tucked-away, and special-feeling. They have great sandwiches, killer desserts (the Italian Cream Cake is FABULOUS), and awesome breakfast options, too. Their flavored tea is a nice treat as well. Pick up a little something, sit out on the patio under the vines and branches, and just totally relax. One of my all-time favorite, favorite places.
Lupi's is a great, fun, casual place with handmade-chic decor, and the food is really excellent. A long list of possible toppings, some of which are organic, and regular and wheat crust options, as well as a red or white sauce. Their dough is great, and though I've only ever had pizza (fantastic) and salads (huge and filled with good stuff), the calzones look amazing and are GIANT. Our daughter loves it, and we come her almost every time we're in town.
The pottery is really beautiful, and the jewelry is fabulous! There is also a nice selection of prints, some journals, etc. The staff is always very nice, and they do a simple, beautiful job of gift wrapping.
The food here is great in every category - Thai, Chinese, and Sushi. The lunch specials are an exceptional deal, ranging in price from about $6 - $9, and coming with soup and either salad or spring roll/crab rangoon (depending on which genre of food the entree falls under). Everything I've tried has been great, and the portions are filling. Service is great, and the atmosphere is wonderful.
