Andy Nguyen's
I'm by no means a vegetarian, but this place pulls off a great imitation beef. They have great dishes that have crazy title's like " the soup of serenity" or the "the rice dish of tranquility." Anywho, it's got really good food and the atmosphere and service are excellent. It's a must when you're in town.
Mamonluk
A lot of family like this place. They have good filipino breakfast plates and noodle soups for when you need some comfort food. The service isn't great, but the food is worth it. I would recommend this to people who aren't too snooty about service.
Mexicali Rose Restaurant
I've had my share of Mexican food and taquerias in my day, but nothing compares to Mexicali Rose. There are two sizes choose from: half plate for those who know where to stop eating, and the full order for those who like to be uncomfortably full. I love their green enchilada's.
Kerry House
This place has seen it all. Kerry's, according to the pictures on the wall, as been around a while. It attracts all types of people and the juke box has a wide range of music to accommadate them all. During baseball season, the local bar flys and the bartenders do trip's to an A's game and of course, come back to the bar to get wasted for the rest of their day. Everyone should stop by at least twice. It's never the same twice.
Stork Club
This place isn't bad for a neighborhood club. The music acts vary, but are generally good. The place looks like a dirty frat house with pool tables. The people are friendly, but this definitely a hipster hangout.
Luka's Taproom & Lounge
If you don't believe me and if you got money to burn, then go to Luka's. Nothing is cheap here. The music sucks, but the pool table in the back isn't bad. I had dinner here once, but it wasn't good enough to me to come back and pay their prices.
Mama Buzz Cafe
The only reason I would suggest this place to anyone is the coffee. The place has contributed to the gentrification of the neighborhood without contributing to the culture. If you like coffee, there's a Starbucks around th corner. If you like coffee and are a hipster, this is the place for you. The food's expensive and plain and the people behind the counter should quit and continue to live off their trust fund.
Al's Good Food Cafe
I'm amazed no one really knows this place. They have excellent breakfast food, and you're definitely getting your money's worth here. Al's Scramble is perfect of hangovers or just a really hungry person. I recommend this to anyone who claims to know the city or thinks their a San Franciscan. The place is ran by the same family since it's been open.
Suily's Cafe
My family and I have been going here since we were young. They have cheap dishes and very affordable lunch specials. If you go here, definitely have the hot and sour soup. You won't be disappointed.
Pho Hoa Hiep
I'm a fan of noodles so coming here was a good idea. They serve large portions. I especially liked the seafood noodle soup with egg noodles. I definitely recommend this place.
