Old St Angela Inn
This is a bed and breakfast with a very interesting history-it used to be a convent-St. Angela's Convent, attached to St. Angela's School. I know this, because I lived there for 3 years, when it was a convent. It began as a private home, then became the church priest's house, then,m in 1920, it became a convent. Each room has a private bath, and it's in easy walking distance of the water. They offer a buffet breakfast, and afternoon tea. Staying there is an experience!
Mystic Stamp Co
This is a great place to order stamps to teach your child history, and start in stamp collecting. The prices are good, and they have a huge selection of stamps from most countries. You can order stamps in themes, as sports, art, countries, animals, etc. You order them on approval, so if what you ordered is not what you wanted, they can be returned.
ORIENTAL TRADING COMPANY INC
This catalog business is a boon to teachers, or parents with big families, or party givers. They sell decorations, and things that can be used for prizes. Their prices are exceptionally good, and you buy things by the dozens. They ship quickly.
Willows Theatre
This theatre is a local, small theatre, probably best known for all the Nunsense plays. It's like a family, and during the Nunsense play intermissions, Bingo is played, with prizes. They have opened another theatre, the Willows Cabaret, actually in Martinez. The productions are such such as Mame, On Golden Pond, and Little Shop of Horrors. Tickets are reasonable.
Scott's Catering Svc
Part of Scott's Restaurant. There are several rooms in the restaurant, where wedding parties can be held. The decor is very nice, and the food is exceptional. Weddings can actually be held as part of the party, there.
Fumble Fingers
The only lapidary shop in the area. You can buy tools, equipment for drilling stones, polishing, etc., raw stones and polished, and all the findings you could want. It's a small shop on a side street, and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable.
Hi-Tech Shoe Svc
This business has been under the same ownership for many years, and the owner can replace soles and heels on shoes and boots, and totally rebuild boots. Service is quick and reasonable.
Yogurt Castle
This is a tiny yogurt shop in the Broadway Shopping Center. They always have sugar-free yogurts, as well as those with sugar. You can get a single cone or cup, or cups with various toppings. It's so small, it can barely fit 4 customers!
Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel
Hulls has been in business since 1954, and have a most gracious staff, for those terrible times in your lives. They will sit down with you to set up a before-need plan, and are so patient. They feel like your family. There is no pressure to buy the most expensive plan, and they will spend as much time with a family purchasing a very simple service, as they do with one, setting up services of a dignitary.
Dallimonti's Restaurants
This is an old time Italian restaurant. The soups are excellent and filling, and customers seem to know each other. They serve lunches and dinners, and prices are reasonable. They serve a lot of pastas. Really filling foods.
