This restaurant has become one of the stars of the university district. Originally, the location was small, dark, and cramped, and the food was greasy and heavy. However, about a year ago they renovated the place...expanding into the location next door. Now I go there all the time.
My favorite dish is the salmon burger. They also have very good cheese steaks and a wide selection of German beer. The best part of the restaurant are the French fries. They are crispy and flavorful.
They have such delicious Mac Salad and BBQ short ribs...it's just a shame that their service is lacking.
One time that I have been there they wouldn't serve me lunch because they were "catering" that day, even though the hours on their front door said they were open. Another time I was they they were really busy for lunch and we waited 45 minutes without getting any food...sure they were busy, but in those 45 minutes we literally saw only 3 plates come out of the kitchen.
I visited this restaurant for an appetizers and drink special about a years ago. The food was so tasty we ended up buying a full dinner here. What stands out most was the "bacon" martini with an actual piece of caramelized bacon!
The regular menu prices are a bit pricey which prevents me from giving it higher marks.
The Tap House Grill has recently opened up in downtown Seattle and true to it's name they have a ton of beers on tap. The food is typical upscale bar fare, but the beer listing is extensive. They have a wide selection of Belgian German and other imported beers. The best deal are their beer samplers that let you try 4 - 4oz. beer samples for around $10. It's worth a visit just to see so many beer taps in one place.
This pirate themed restaurant is part of the Maritime Pacific Brewing Company in Ballard. It can be a little hard to find the restaurant as it is located away from downtown Ballard, but on the plus side it is easy to find parking. The interior is decorated with pirate paraphernalia including a giant treasure map painted on the floor.
Most surprisingly the food here is of excellent quality. The dishes have interesting flavor combinations and most contain a good portion of protein. They usually have a good selection of local fish and all come with vegetables and starch of some type. Since it's a brewery the beer here is also great!
I have been to this restaurant twice and I have to say that the food were above average for, but the portions were very small and the price expensive. I am very particular about my Italian food and I was happy to see that the menu contained many entrees besides pasta. The food was well prepared and tasty. One major drawback was that the portion size was small for the price charged.
