Wedgewood has rooms for tourists during the summer, but rents nice apartments for those that need to stay longer. A corporate apartment was rented for a three month work assignment over the summer and it was found to be a good choice. The area is quiet with close access to Creamer's field walking trails. The balcony had a view of the hills and the western sunsets. Basic kitchen equipment was available and the apartment itself is set up quite nicely, the closets are roomy and the building and grounds in general are kept up very well.
This greenhouse is close to town and they still have many greenhouses connected and a very large selection of plants for your garden and flower beds. They have the cutest selection of gifts and garden decorations. A full service greenhouse as they also do landscaping.
Hot Licks has the very best ice cream. It reminds me of home-made with all sorts of fresh fruit and flavors. They use Alaska wild blueberries or raspberries.YUM!
Ivory Jack's is located in the Goldstream Valley; nice if you don't want to travel to town. They have specials on the weekends and the ribs are great! Burgers and sandwiches are very good, but fish gets overcooked there. Lots of parking, and lots of interesting decor. Look for Elvis over the bar!
They are also the Harley Dealer in Fairbanks, but this is where I get my little 4-wheeler serviced. They do good work, a little pricey, and they also will order any parts I need. Always have my wheeler done very quickly.
This company can set you up with an insurance policy for whatever you need. They deal with an assortment of policies and can help you find one to fit your needs and budget. The people are very nice here, and if you need any changes made, the adjustments are made immediatly.
Cold Spot is the best place to find something for your doggie. They have stuff for little pocket puppies all the way up to a whole gang of sled dogs. Excellent service from happy people, they will carry your stuff to the truck and if they can't answer your question, they will find someone that can.
If you need something quick for lunch, this will do. Not the best pizza that I have had, but not the worst either! They deliver if you can get a buch of orders together or they have take out, and offer customer appreciation specials.
We took one of the mid length raft trips. There was a bit of whitewater, but just enough for us on the raft. The bigger whitewater is further down the river. The trip we were on stopped for an excellent lunch on the river shore and then a short hike in to an old homestead site for some sightseeing. Great fun, wildlife along the way, and in all, a great way to spend a day in Alaska.
I am always happy with the food at the Pump House. The hubby and I go for Sunday champagne brunch on a regular basis and I always look for the creme brulee. They have a nice deck and when the weather is cooler, an atrium for dining.
