The Red Dolly Casino is different from any other Casino in Black Hawk. It's much smaller. It only has 175+ slot machines and 5 -$5 progressive video poker machines. No Blackjack Tables & No
Poker Tables so it's a much more relaxed atmosphere.
Best of all upstairs they have a little Amerian fare diner that serves an amazing prime rib dinner for $2.99! Also, the parking is free and the staff is friendly. How could you go wrong!
Jasmine's food is very good and fresh. The extensive menu also some Vietnamese and Thai items. Everything I have had here in this neighborhood restaurant has been very good. And the staff is quite friendly
The Breakfast King has been aound for over 30 years. It operates 24 hours a day. Do not let the Breakfast name fool you. It has a vast menu of all manner of short order food as well as daily specials. The breakfasts are the specialty. And they are great. The portions are generous. The service is fast. I have never had a bad waitress here. When you are hungry, this is a great place to land
Fitzgerald's Casino is my favorite casino up in Blackhawk. It's smaller than most of the Casino's but I like the atmosphere and let's face it after all it's Irish. I like the Irish food served in the dining room, even though it's not free, it's also not slop and tends to be a a cut above the other places. When my mother visits she likes to go to Fitzgeralds and the next time she comes we will go there. Maybe we'll have the luck of the Irish. Fun place.
Charlie's has been around for a long time. They were on Larimer street when it was skid row. This is the place to buy tools, especially automotive type wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers etc. There are all kinds of tools here But mechanics tools are the specialty. You get it cheper here than anywhere else that is a store. They base their prices on one half the current retail price. The keep all catalogues and price lists on hand for reference. You'll find anything from Snap On on down. I'd stay away from the power tools unless you know them well. There is no store guarantee on anything. But most brands of mechanics hand tools carry lifetime guarantees. If it breaks, the dealer will replace it. Snap On, Craftsman, Matco, Mac, Cornwell, Proto, SK and other are like this. Do your research on brands before yo go there so you know what to buy and not buy.
Richard Hodge has been a bike mechanic for 40 years. Although the Cyle Analyst sells new and used bikes, this stores forte is repairs. When you can get it fixed anywhere else, then this is the place. Need a 3 speed hub fixed. A cinch here. They can fix a bike you bought last week or something 50-60 years old. Richard has forgotten more than most bike mechanics will ever know. He can be testy. Especially if you one of those fools who tries to show him how much you know. Just take his advice and do as he recommends. He is very honest and good hearted.
The Denver Spoke has been around almost 40 years now. They carry a good selection of road and mountain bikes. But their selection of high road frames that can be built up into whatever you desire is vast. The prblem with the Denver Spoke is that they can be rather full of thenselves. I have known of a number of people who have been treated condescendingly and sometimes with absolute rudeness. On the other hand there are many people who swear by this store
Campus Cycles has been around for more than twenty years. It has evolved into a first rate bicycle store, one of the best in town. They carry Trek, Gary Fisher, Scott and a host of smaller high road and mountain bikes. They also have cruisers. The clothing and accessory selection is vast. The service department is first rate. Te philosophy is to be the fun friendly store. A very good place for the novice to shop because no one will talk down to you

The Yard House is located in the Colorado Mills Mall on the south side of Colfax at Indiana St. The mall has around a hundred stores, many of them specilizing in close outs. So guys, this is the place to go when your wife wants to shop for shoes and clothes. Take her to the Colorado Mills Mall and you go here. Well over a hundred beers on tap. Many of them are decent micros and imports. A huge menu of pretty much standard bar fare, the things I have sampled have been good. The place is absolutely huge. The bar is oval and probably seats nearly a hundred folks. Good place to drown your shopping blues
