Poochie's Hot Dogs is where my husband would like to work after he retires. I said OK!, Well at least this would get us back home to Chicago where we belong!
So thank you Poochie's for having such wonderful Chicago hot dogs, and fries. No matter what else is going on in town when we come home to visit my husband makes us visit you.
You are always reliably the very best. Thank you!
Peggie Robinson Designs is a stop in the heart of Evanston that you don't want to miss a you peruse the local artists. Peggie's work has been a local treasure for decades and now has become nationally, and perhaps internationally known. I have seen first hand some of my friends with jewelry she has personally designed, and it is just so unique and lovely.
Her silver and platinum work has always been outstanding. She has many other mediums that she works in.
Peggie Robinson's work is pricey, but it is a one of a kind treasure and piece of art you will have for the rest of your life!
Barnaby's Of Northbrook is one of the best thin Chicago Pizza's ever! It is the only one I know of that has the corn meal crust on the bottom. It's very much a family place. You go up and order and sit in your high backed wooden booth & wait until your pizza is ready.
It was one of the first self-serve places around making it great for kids.We used to take our kids there when they we little and now theyare 15-32 years old, so that tells our history. We love it! Highly endorse the Pizza!
Little Louie's Red Hots in the heart of downtown Northbrook is one heck of a Chicago hot dog. Yep complete with celery salt and you don't have to ask!
But you will have to yell across a crowded room so don't be shy.
Their french fries are to die for also. Everyone in there is a kid from 1 to 100 lined up all the way out the door down the side walk!
You can eat inside at tables, but good luck with all the strollers in there. Doesn't matter, Northbrook is a beautiful town of parks. Enjoy!
Monastero??s Ristorante and Banquets has served the finest Italian food in Chicago for over forty years, It is a owned and operated by the Monastero family.
You can have intimate dinners or ulilize the banquet rooms which hold up to 300 guests.
Monastero??s has great meditirranean as well as continental cuisine and has always complimented it's dining with fine Italian Opera.
The Italian Kitchen is a family owned restaurant in a little tiny strip mall where there's hardly enough room for parking and hardly enough room for seating. But every one waits patiently, as this little north-shore community knows everyone and is friendly.
From Papa Johnny to Mama to whichever daughters and sons are home at the time; you get the best food and friendly service. Not only are you welcomed, but you always feel like family.
Great pizza, and all pasta dishes are handmade by Mama. Try it you'll like it.
The Shrimp Walk is one of my Momma's favorite places in the entire world. We three girls kid Mom that some day we'll find her flopping on the floor after she morphs into on large SHRIMP!!!
The Shrimp Walk would be her favorite place to do that at.They have wonderful seafood entrees of all kinds, but they have several Shrimp salads to die for; where the Shrimp are the size of a small lobster!
This of course is what my Momma lives for. So when I'm in townI always take her there. What a great and lovely, white table cloth establishment, for lunch or dinner, with lovely wait staff.
Franz Jewelers is a very reputable jewelers in the heart of downtown Northbrook, IL. Both Father Franz and Son Frank are anchors of the business. Franz carries some of the most unique and beautiful jewelry you could ever find. They also carry mid line prices. If they don't have if they can get it in for you. Their sales people are highly trained and most of them are gemologists as well.
When my fiancee and I went there to design my engagement ring to look like the Irish Cladah with a ruby heart and two diamonds on either side of the heart shaped ruby Franz sent away fro a bag of Rubies as he nor we weren't happy with the stock in hand. he was very patient with us. We loved the final product.
Franz also engraved my mom and dad's wedding bands for us with our favorite Van Morrison song title. It was so sweet. I highly recommend this quality business.
Bill's Drive-In is one of the best well known little hot dog stands in Evanston. It is on the Evanston side but borders the North side of Chicago.
100 years ago we'd all walk up to Bills after high school and get tamale's. No not the authentic Mexican type tamales, but the ones rapped in wax paper and coated with corn meal on the outside and pressed tamale like grits on the inside. We loved it that way. If you've never been there. Try it ... You'll like it.
Mr. Gonzales, at Auto Medix has always been very helpful to me. He has done many helpful things for me and explained things to me in a way that I can understand. He has not talked down to me because I am a woman! I do so appreciate that. I plan on having any major car repairs done with him at Auto Medix because I trust him. Highly Recommend Auto Medix.
