I wish this book store were closer to my house, because it has the best used book prices I have found. Many books are half price as the name implies, but mass market paperbacks are only $3 if you buy 4 or more. Considering that mass markets are now around $8 each this is a great savings!
They also have a bargain table with very cheap paperbacks and hardbacks.
The selection in the mystery and thriller sections are particularly strong. The literature section is decent, though there did seem to be a lack of more current titles. Their buyers must be selective, because the condition of the books overall seemed higher than many used book stores.
One of the women working at the counter was friendly, but the other woman who actually rung up my purchase was grumpy.
The Moonstone Mystery Book Store is a real find for mystery and thriller lovers. The shelves are well organized, and feature shelf talkers (similar to those you would find in a wine store) that tell you about particular books and authors. The mystery section is huge and features new and used books. The selection is great - they have everything from Hard Case Crime to cozies. The used books are about 40% off. You can trade in your books for store credit. The store also recently began carrying mystery magazines.
For the strange person who does not like mysteries there is Twice Told Tales next door, which is a general used book store. They are owned by the same person, and have the same checkout counter so you can buy from both stores with one purchase.
If you go when the owner is there, tell her what authors you will enjoy and she will suggest similar books for you to read. I have discovered several new authors based on her recommendations. Highly recommended.
This is a small used book store with a decent selection for the size. The employees are very friendly, but are also willing to let you leisurely browse the aisles. In addition to the used books at half price, they also offer new selections at 20%. Though they do not have many hardcovers, look for the shelf near the front with very recent releases at 50% off - I bought 3 hardbacks there on my last visit.
As with most used book stores you will get more bang for your buck if you trade in for store credit rather than cash.
