Tucked away between a liquor store and fantastic taco shop called Lucha Libre is Bar Dynamite. Love the all red interior, reasonably priced drinks and good music. Can get very, very crowded on weekend nights, so go early.
I agree with the prior review: the food at Thai Village is great, so don't be turned away by the somewhat run down atmosphere. If you don't want to sit inside, order it to go and walk the block to the beach and enjoy your delicious food with a wonderful view of the ocean.
I dropped into Lanna because the line at Sushi Ota next door was much too long (as always!). I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful decor and good food, given this is tucked away in a non-descript mini-mall in PB. The tropical duck was very good, as was my chicken in peanut sauce. Definitely plan to return.
Heavenly Nails is a great place to go for nails, although it can be crowded at times. It is very clean and it appears they take sanitizing everything very seriously. They seem to have a good deal of turnover in the ladies who work there, but I've only had a pedicure that I didn't like once in the approximately 20 times I've gone to Heavenly Nails.
I've been going to the Tiki for over ten years and consider it one of the best "dive" bars in San Diego, particularly because the owner (Dave) is so cool and makes such an effort to bring in great, local bands. It's a refreshing change from the 21 year olds' bar scene on Garnet in PB. Long live the Tiki!
I have never had a bad meal at the Venetian--the food is always terrific. Everything on the menu is "traditional" Italian food. Particularly good items are the linguini with seafood marinara, the pizza and the Caesar salad. Great place to take the family for dinner.
I was very surprised at how good the sushi is at JRDN. We had several dinners at JRDN (steak, etc.) but never had the sushi until we popped in on a Thursday night, which has a sushi happy hour. (Check this to make sure it is still on Thursday nights.) The sushi was excellent and probably tasted even better because we knew we were paying half the normal price! The full price seemed expensive to me; I would definitely try to go again when I know they are having sushi specials.
The care is very good, but I've found some of the prices, particularly spaying, are double the prices found at comparable vets. This was the case even when the services were exactly the same (overnight stay following the surgery, pain meds, collar, etc.). Vet and staff are very professional and knowledgeable.
I have been going to Belli Belli since it opened. Catherine and Shelby are the best! They make you feel welcome and comfortable from the moment you walk in the door. I'm often complimented on the color Catherine gives my hair. Keep it up guys, you're doing a great job!
I took my dog to Town and Country to be spayed because Dr. Sevier cared for my family pet many years ago and because I found Town and Country's prices to be very reasonable. I was not disappointed at all. Dr. Sevier is very practical and experienced; I liked his doggy "bedside manner." The cost for the spaying was almost half the price of the quote I received from a local vet. Even though I don't live in the area, I will drive the substantial distance to Town and Country because I was so impressed with their services.
