You absolutely, hands down, will not ever find nicer people to work with than the Miller family. You just don't find service like this anymore. Once you walk through the door (with the horseshoe handle) you'll be treated like you are very special--and to them, you are. You'll find clothing, boots, some tack and rodeo gear, jewelry and a growing line of beautiful Western gifts and home decor. If your footwear or tack needs repair, or your old hat needs re-shaping, this is the place to go. They know the trade like no one else. If they don't have what you're after, they'll bend over backwards to help you get it. It's not a big or fancy store by any means and that's part of its beauty.
Great appetizers, entrees, steaks, surrounded by televisions for the sports fan, with never-fail servers--that is Bruff's. Date, family, party or business--they'll get you taken care of. This is usually a busy place, especially on weekends and on game day, but the servers hustle and don't keep you waiting. This place has been working its magic for many years and has never disappointed. I highly recommend it.
Don't stop when you're in a hurry--this is a big place, an antique mall with tons of booths from different vendors. You'll want to check all of them out. From jewelry to furniture, it's all there. I have "cashed in" a few times with some great finds, but of course, prices vary from vendor to vendor. Very frequently, a booth will feature a sale, too. The aisles are spacious, the staff is helpful when you ask and the variety of goods is beyond expectation.
When you first step through the door, you almost expect someone to say, "Norm!" It has a very Cheer-esque atmosphere. The bar itself is gorgeous, and always quality bartenders on duty. It's regularly frequented by a good mix of blue and white collar workers, all ages, and not an exclusive college crowd. Friday when the whistle blows it's the place to be. They have a meeting room in-the back, and are known for their connection to any St. Patrick's Day festivities. I would recommend this as a classily casual place to meet friends and have a cold one. It's a full-service bar.
You can't miss with Second Love when you are going out to buy something the fan or the collector. They carry many collegiate items, John Deere, etc. You can find something for all ages, male and female. It's a great place to go when you are in a hurry, but want to find the perfect gift. Worth the trip, whether you are shopping for yourself or someone else. I'll admit it is crowded. Prices are in line with other gift stores.
Elegant, exquisite, and...expensive. You don't expect to find merchandise of this quality at bargain basement prices, but comparatively speaking, their prices are competitive. They carry home furnishings, gifts, candles and many items are quite unique. (Their buyer has great taste!) You will find Honeysuckle Lane in the Flint Hills Mall. Expect to find a spacious setting, helpful service and occasional sales. Well worth the visit.
This is THE hot spot for night-time entertainment. It's packed on weekends. Trust Desperados to supply you with rockin' country bands on the weekends and a large dance floor to keep you dancing. Good lights and sound system for DJ and karaoke nights. The bartenders are above average and the beer is cold. Start your evening off with a steak, too!
This is more than a store--it's an experience. It has three floors of merchandise and the best selection of Western boots around, without having to go into the big cities. However, I bet big city folks come here to shop! it is an absolutely beautiful store and is always impeccably clean. The clerks are helpful, but leave you alone when you want to browse. And browse you will. There is much to see here! You'll find work clothes and dress clothes alike, hats and jewelry--everything you want and expect from a top notch Western store, with all the brands you want and trust. If you are anywhere near Chase County, you have got to stop here!
KB Thomas Jr. is not your conventional Realtor. He can save a seller some big bucks as he will sell a house, any house, for a flat rate. He's been in the real estate business a long time--a pretty colorful character that is fun to work with.
I have bought and sold houses through Jim and Joyce Cress and I just can't recommend them enough. They are honest, hard-working and very down-to-earth. I know there are other good realtors in Emporia, but I would never consider going anywhere else.
