This little house has been turned into a wonderful , safe, fun Montessori preschool for ages 3 - 5+. Ms. Karen and her assistant run program that encourages individual development and initiative. Children are encouraged to work at their own pace, at the things that interest them most - with gentle guidance from the teachers, and group activities during the day.
My children were ready for kindergarten at 4 because of the preparation Ms. Karen and this Montessori program gave them. I cannot recommend it enough.
Full and half day programs are available, with extended care options - monday to friday, or mwf, or tth options also available. Whatever is best for your child, Sandpiper will provide.
Support the independent bookseller and stop in here. This is a great little book store, with chairs to sit in while you browse and fair selection of titles across most genres, a coffee cart outside with table and umbrellas, and book signings and readings by authors. The staff routinely display their recent favorites along with their reviews, and are always happy to help with recommendations if you can't decide on your own. There's no way the local independent shops are going to be able to keep the stock that the big chains can, but Bay Books will order you any book they don't have and usually get the book in within a day or so.
They make your caesar salad to order, at your table. It's really the best I've ever had. The rest of the menu is also quite tasty, but it was the caesar salad that kept us going back.
Okay, really, this is an elegant little restaurant tucked away in Mililani. The decor is quiet and subdued, the ambiance is elegant and romantic, the service is impeccable and the food is very good. But make sure you try the salad.
You have to get a little off the beaten path to get to Haleiwa Joe's but it's worth the trip. The restaurant is fun - and not touristy trendy - the bar is good - the food is great. It's low key and relaxing - a great place to eat and hang - off the beaten path.
The blackened ono salad - that's my favorite. It's actually on the menu with blackened ahi, but I'm not an ahi fan, and the staff is happy to substitute. Tropical breezes, tropical drinks, good food. Love it.
Blink and you might miss it as you cruise through Haleiwa on your way to the North Shore. Don't blink. This little shop has the most beautiful and unique and interesting pearl jewelry I have ever seen. Plenty of black tahitian pearls, and south sea yellow pearls, and keishi pearls... all in beautiful original settings designed on site in a way that tries never to pierce the pearl. So if you ever want to reset the pearls, they are still flawless.
The owners run the shop and design the jewelry on site. If you want something special, they will design it and make it for you. I cannot say enough about this beautiful shop and it's beautiful pearls.
The burgers are great, the pizza is great, the beer is cold - but what really surprised me was the traditional hawaiian mahi mahi plate lunch (fish, salad, rice). That was the best mahi mahi I'd had/have had in quite some time. Excellent good fun.
This is a great way to spend a hot summer day! The pontoon boats are clean, and spacious, easy to drive and very stable on the water. "Barnacle Bob" gives clear directions on starting, stopping, steering, dropping anchor for a dip in the river - it's all easy. We have rented from him twice for an all day family outing - we bring the food and the drinks and the towels and the sunscreen and have a great day on the water. A bit pricey - but not bad for all day fun - especially in the dog days of August.
My favorite dish on the menu is the spicy calamari salad - it's light and fresh and just the right amount of spice and taste every time. I love it! I'm not a big sushi buff, but I've heard only raves from my friends who are. Don't miss the martinis in the Lizard Lounge bar area... what a treat.
This little restaurant has a big menu which covers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nothing I've ever ordered here has been anything less than great. Even better, they now have an arrangement with the wine shop 4 doors down - you can bring your own bottle of wine from WineStyles to Chance Bistro with no corkage fee, or you can have your Chance Bistro meal sent down to the wine bar at WineStyles. Great wine, great food, what a deal.
