The place looks quaint but not so much. The pool was filled with icy cold water so cold that it was unusable. A clanking sound all night long made sleep impossible. We thought a fight was going on in the room next door in the morning but it was the hotel maid and her children.Waffle maker at the breakfast but no waffles. Many other hotels in Ft Lauderdale to choose from.
We selected Athena By The Sea for an early dinner. We chose from the Greek selections and had the moussaka dish. The dish was just okay and pretty tasteless. The seating outside was cramped and too close to the traffic. Not remarkable.
Hobos is a great family seafood restaurant. It is located in dive crazy Key Largo. The atmosphere is good for families - tables and booths. They play diving videos on screens throughout the restaurant to keep you and the kids entertained while waiting for your meals. We were there for lunch which was reasonably priced. Fish is good when it is fresh and it was fresh at Hobos.
Johns Hopkins Hospital is a pretty formidable place but Dr Traill makes you feel at home. Dr Traill is conservative in his treatment and thorough in his examinations. He is well respected by other doctors at JH Hospital as well as his staff. Dr Traill's secretary takes the initiative to coordinate MRIs, echo cardiograms and other tests with the office visit to minimize travel time for the patient. I find him personable and far more knowledgeable than two local cardiologists I have patronized. First class cardio at a first class hospital.
A & B Lobster House has a fabulous Happy Hour. We enjoyed it so much we went twice. The appetizers are half price so you can have your dinner at a fabulous restaurant with great view of the marina and dock for cheap. Order multiple appetizers to fill up. Our favorite was the buffalo shrimp but all of the appetizers were great. Sitting outside by the the marina made this an enjoyable, although early, dinner.
What a great B&B. The Southernmost Point Guest House is located close to the southernmost point in the U.S. near the end of Duval Street. The rooms are fantastic with superb furnishings making if very homey - a huge improvement over hotel rooms. The breakfast was fantastic and our favorite was the Guava jelly with cream cheese on the fresh bread. It was so enjoyable relaxing on the covered porch overlooking Duval Street while we ate our breakfast. They have an arrangement with the Southernmost House across the street allowing guests to use the pool across the street. Every room had fresh flowers and bottle of sherry. We also enjoyed talking with the friendly staff and owner and received many recommendations from them for restaurants and activities in Key West.
Dr Arata is wonderful. A thorough competent Dr that is caring and professional...a real find! Consistent compassionate care. Wonderful warm office setting that is relaxing and convenient. Her diagnosis and testing recommendations have consistently been on target. The nursing assistants are friendly and without a high turnover. Comforting to see familiar faces. I highly recommend Dr Arata.
We took a catamaran snorkeling tour out of Key West on Fury Catamarans. The Catamaran held probably over 50 snorkelers and we had maybe 15 so it was very uncrowded. We went to a beautiful coral reef that was very shallow so you could get close to see the coral up close. We liked the snorkeling so much we went on a Champagne Sunset Snorkel Cruise later. However, the cruise ships were in so we had probably 60 snorkelers on the boat. Also since it was later in the day, the sun wasn't as bright which meant the coral wasn't as bright. Also I think they took us to an area where the coral was deeper so there was no risk of damage to the coral from the large number of snorkelers. This was still an enjoyable trip just not as great as the smaller group. If you have the choice go when the cruise ships are not filling up the boats.
I have had many exams at Advanced Radiology spreading over several years. I have always found the office staff to be efficient and helpful. Even though there is a wait at times, I always feel as if they are moving people thru as quickly as possible. The technicians performing the exams have always been courteous and respectful.Nice large waiting room with plenty of reading material.Easy to book appointments.
We really enjoyed our dinner on the beach at the Duval Beach Club. It is located on the beach at the southernmost end of Duval Street. The atmosphere is so relaxing and pleasant. The food was also good and reasonably priced. We arrived just prior to closing on a slow night so we had no trouble getting a table but barely beat the kitchen close.
