The Looe Key Tiki Bar which is part of the Looe Key Reef Resort, is a great place for a night of fun. The Tiki Bar had live local entertainment the night we were there which was very good. The 2 person group played songs consistent with the key atmosphere and the older crowd in attendance, which also seemed to include a number of locals. The fish sandwiches that we ordered from the grill were very good as well. Great fun time waiting for your dive the next day or to end a dive day.
Looe Key Reef Resort consists of a Tiki Bar restaurant, Dive Shop and Hotel. The hotel is convenient for dive departures but that is probably the only plus. The dive boat leaves from the dock behind the hotel. The rooms are pretty dirty, the window blinds didn't cover the windows, and frogs and bugs were in the rooms. I wouldn't mind this for a dive hotel except that it was also pretty expensive for those conditions.
We ate at the Rusty Pelican for Sunday brunch. What a great buffet brunch. The buffet was displayed beautifully and had a great selection including seafood. The crab claws were our favorite. The setting was great with a beautiful view from Virginia Key across the water to the Miami skyline. The only negative was the parking. Parking was valet only. After waiting for our car for over 30 minutes with no help from the attendants (seems they misfiled our keys and had no idea where the car was), I went on a 15 minute walk to find the car - which I did. Unpleasant end to a great meal. Let's hope the lost car was a fluke.
Wellington's offers a banquet type atmosphere with chandeliers, white table clothes, formal type setting that seems to be a favorite with the senior crowd. The food, at least at lunch, was so so - kind of bland. The portion sizes were pretty good and the prices were okay, at least for lunch, but the menu just didn't have much interest and neither did the food we ordered.
Carson's is an established store in the Chicago land area and is a well outfitted department store with a wide array of merchandise. The clothing, in particular, caters to a wide audience carrying popular clothing lines for the younger crowd as well as the oldsters.Shoe department offers a lot of lines also. Good go-to store especially for gift shopping.
I ordered masks, snorkels, and fins from 123 Scuba with excellent results. The equipment was in great shape and the prices are much lower than other places I found. Delivery was prompt and they even provided me free shipping on a future order.
Mambo Cafe is located at the Bayside Marketplace close to the marina. It has a nice location with both outside seating looking out on the marina and also inside seating. We had lunch at the cafe after shopping around the Bayside marketplace. The service was quick and courteous and the food was good - not exceptional but good.
Primanti Bros has a number of locations around the Pittsburgh area. We stopped at the Moon Twp restaurant on a over night stop on a road trip. The restaurant was recommended by the hotel and was within walking distance. The wait was not too long but it was obvious this restaurant was a local hangout - a lot of high school jackets, etc. and local high school stuff in the restaurant. The sandwiches have the option of french fries and cole slaw on the sandwich, which we chose. Very good with a unique twist to the sandwich and fries staple.
We recently had our gutter replaced by Leafguard of Maryland. The system provides a one piece integrated system of gutter and shield to prevent debris build up. The gutters are not cheap but they do seem to work (although I need to call them because there was some overflow during a recent 3.5 inch per day rain). The installation was outstanding - professional and they cleaned up the mess. The installers as well as the salesman were very courteous.
What a great place to relax, drink some coffee, and browse books. The store is located at the Annapolis waterfront and has both inside and outside sidewalk seating. The small bookstore has discounted books with a large selection of local Annapolis and Maryland books. They encourage sitting and browsing a book and drinking your coffee with a danish or muffin also sold at there. Extremely friendly staff and a very welcoming atmosphere. The coffee is excellent and they offer a wide variety of espressos and cappuccinos and flavored coffees.
