Unfortunately, we had three bad experiences: (1) I was sold the wrong kind of black tape for a job, by some young guy there who really did not know enough about their merchandise. (2) Their own brand of bug bomb was terrible - 4 out of 6 of the cans did not even go off!! They just fizzled out in a drip. This does not occur with the known, major brands. (3) They leave the store early and don't pick up their phone until the end of their workday - 5:30 P.M. They must rush out!
This historic motel offers an excellent seasonal Sunday brunch- anyone may dine here, not just motel guests. It is not expensive, and is really delicious, but get here early, as it becomes very crowded!
I was there 1.5 years ago, and will never return, I was very unhappy and extremely disappointed with my results here, though I tipped well, as the people were very nice and tried to please. I had my hair washed by a young, macho man, who may have been the son of the manager. He was very insensitive and rough; this was the worst shampooing I had ever had!! Then, the very young, inexperienced 20 year old woman (Jennifer) who colored my hair was super sweet and lovely, but did a very poor job, and left my hair in such bad shape color-wise that I had to go somewhere else to rectify the color; she left it in three colors. Vidal Sassoon Salon had to straighten it out in Manhattan.
I have been going here for 10 years. I think they are better than La Carezza , also in Southampton, and on a par with Gil Ferrer in Bridgehampton, though Ferrer's is a bit more expensive. The beautiful, tasteful, relaxing Kevin Maple Salon can be either fabulous, or bad. If you have the more experienced stylist/colorist named Elizabeth,a true professional who knows how to do it all, then you are in great hands. Kevin Maple, a real sweetheart, who looks like a movie star, is a truly marvelous haircutter/colorist, I have heard. His own fees are too high for me. However, if you use some of the other stylists, especially any of the ones who have bad haircuts and color themselves, you may be very disappointed, as I was, having had two bad experiences there myself with hair cutting and color. Those two women who worked on me looked poorly put-together themselves - a bad omen! So, ask for Elizabeth, a consummate professional, and you will really never be disappointed!!!! She is absolutely fabulous!!!
I had to leave a message with their evening service last Tuesday evening, and the woman who answered the phone was rude, nasty, hurried, and unprofessional. And, no one followed up and called me back the next day, as requested!! I had to phone them. The daytime telephone staff is no better: rude, pushy, and hurrying. The company may do good work once the men get on site, but the women (relatives and friends??) who answer the phone probably hate their jobs. It is not pleasant to deal with them.
