I remember when I was younger, I was into a game called Magic the Gathering. I would always go to the hobby shop to buy myself new decks of cards. Besides cards, the Hobby Shop carries all kinds of hobbies: trains (they have an AMAZING setup in their store), cars, card games, legos, boy/girl scout uniforms, model airplanes, basbeball cards, collectible comics and much more. They expanded a few years ago and are one of the best hobby shops in the nation. As such, their prices are a bit more expensive but they have amazing selection! I would recommend them to anyone looking for find a specialty product or just getting into a new hobby.
Pros: wide selection/variety
cons: closes early, bit more expensive.
I came here for about 10 years. The only reason I stopped was because of college. Every single Saturday after Chinese school I went here to grab a quick lunch with my family. The restaurant is a bit on the smaller side. Since it is tucked away in a small strip mall, it is hard to see. From the outside, you would think it wouldn't be that good, but the food is amazing. All my friends from Chinese school would always eat there. Their Singapore rice noodles are a classic dish and tastes amazing. I know that they do takeout, but have not personally done takeout myself. I would recommend it to any of my friends who are in the area for a delicious quick bite to eat.
Every year my college hosts a multicultural buffet. They order chinese, japanese, korean, filipino and indian food. We get the indian food from crown of india. As the co-ordinator for this event, I went to crown of India to see the actually restaurant. As soon as you open the door, the smell of curry seeps out . At that moment, you know its going to be good. I introduced myself to the owner and he was extremely friendly. He is willing to bargain over food prices and that is extremely helpful.
As for the actual food itself, it is delicious. It is really authentic indian. The naan is competitvely priced and the allu chaat is amazing; so is the tandoori chicken that we order every year.
Pros: delicous food, fair price, friendly owner
cons: smell of restaurant (if you don't want to smell like curry)
Vinnie's pizza store is a few blocks down from where I live. I can't comment on the pizza since I do not normally eat those. Their prices are competitive and their meals are good. I normally order a veal parm meal and it is delicious. The meals come with salad, bread and the actual entree, all at a fair price. Their subs/hoagies are also very good.
I have never actually eaten there, but the restaurant is on the smaller side.
As a college student- sampling chinese food is an art. Tan may is one of the many chinese restaurants located in my vicinity. I have never been to Tan May itself, but their chinese food is better than many of the other restaurants in the area. I really enjoyed their orange chicken. The food prices are competitive with the other restaurants nearby.
As a college student, I sample many fast food places. This one caught my attention one day and I decided to try it since it has chinese, mexican and japanese food. My two friends and I each tried a cuisine. My suggestion is to not eat the mexican food. It is average and can be bought from your frozen food aisle. The japanese food was amazing as they had many types of sushi and bento boxes. Japanese food is their specialty. The chinese food was not as good as the Japanese food and was not on the same level as fast food places that only make chinese food. My favorite part about this place is that they deliver- always helpful for a college student.
Pros: deliver, great Japanese, reasonable prices
Cons: average Chinese and Mexican food.
Every Sunday my family goes to eat dim sum. It is a cantonese tradition. Normally we go to a place called West Lake in Matawan, but every now and then we go to Crown Palace. Crown palace has an extremely nice atmosphere. The restaurant is really large- this has a bad side though. Because dim sum is pushed around on carts, food does not get circulated quickly and you have to wait a while sometimes before you get your next dish.
The prices are average.
Pros: large restaurant, nice atmosphere, located next to a chinese supermarket.
Cons: slower service
Very competitive privately own salon. The owner is very accommodating with appointments. Appointments are not necessary which is a large plus. My sister goes there all the time to get her hair done.
Pros: affordable, accommodating, friendly
Cons: small salon.
Over the summer, the air condition in my car broke. I desperately needed it fix quickly. His price was almost less than half of the quote of my local body shops gave me. He was able to fix my air conditioning in a matter of days, which completely saved me when I was driving to work everyday. I would suggest this auto body shop to anyone who lives in the area as they are friendly, affordable, and efficient.
When I crashed my Nissan into a wall, I brought them to this body shop. This body shop was a recommended auto body shop on my All state insurance policy. I would give them 6 out of 5 stars if I could. Wayne, the general manager was extremely pleasant and kept me updated. He updated me with all work that he would do before proceeding and kept up with the followup after my car was fixed. It was restored to perfect condition and I am extremely satisifed.
pros: fast service, ethical, friendly, knowledgable
